Here’s the Sitch…
My Dear Parishioners,
We are on track with our new stained-glass project. Side and large windows will be installed in 2 phases beginning December 2nd. There is still opportunity to be a part of the legacy for Holy Spirit Parish. Please feel free to inquire further! Also, one of the large upper side entrances with “The Holy Spirit” will be dedicated to our beloved Fr. Mathew Vellankal. More information re-garding sponsorship to come.
We have completed a study and received a report the provides a roadmap for all Parish campus deferred maintenance needed for the next ten years. Total cost projection for all required mainte-nance (adjusted for inflation) - $927,550.00!
Blessings,
Fr. Ken
Today is The Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe. It is so much simpler to say, as most of us do, Christ the King Sunday. The Feast was insti-tuted by Pope Pius XI in 1925 and was originally celebrated on the last Sunday of October.
In 1969, when the Roman calendar was reformed, the Feast was moved to the last Sunday of the Liturgical year. And that makes great sense. We spend the year cele-brating Christ’s life and following his ministry so why shouldn’t we wrap it all up at the end of the year? It is a time for us to reflect on our lives and how we view Jesus as our King; not just our King, but the King of everyone and everything. May our reverence and celebration of his life, death and resurrection help lead all people to Him and his Fa-ther.
The readings today lead us to the realization of Him as King even in his suffering. The Gospel re-minds us that on the cross was the inscription, King of the Jews. But reading St. Paul really brings it all to light.
Some excerpts from St. Paul are: He is the image of …God; the firstborn; all things were created through him and for him; He is before all things; He is the head of the church; He is the beginning; in Him all fullness was pleased to dwell…whether on earth or in heaven.
That’s powerful stuff. Today, let us put our secular lives behind us and put Christ in front of us. For through his universal kingdom we are promised eternal salvation.
From the Desk of Dcn. Chuck...
FORMED Pick of the Week: The Case for Jesus https://watch.formed.org/the-case-for-jesus
Dr. Brant Pitre, Scripture scholar and bestselling author, uses biblical and historical evidence to bolster the "case for Jesus" by exposing the prob-lems with the many false theories that have been introduced over the past hundred years, resulting in widespread skepticism about the reliability of Christian Faith. He tackles head-on questions like: Were the four Gospels written anonymously? Did Jesus claim to be God? Did Jesus fulfill the Jewish prophecies of the Messiah? and many more.

Preparing to Make a Decision
Discernment is about choosing between two or more good things. You need to be free to dis-cern. Here are three ways to prepare your heart to listen:
A. Focus on Jesus. Read the Gospels and focus on Christ, especial-ly His love for His disciples—and for you. Dis-cernment flows from your relationship with Je-sus.
B. Renew your commitment to basic Christian living. Re-commit yourself to consistent spiritual prac-tices that dispose you to hearing God’s voice such as: daily prayer, Confession and Mass, reading scripture, spending time in silence, and receiving spiritual direction.
C. Open your heart. St. Ignatius counsels “holy indifference” in which you don’t prefer one choice or another, but instead only what God wants for you. Peacefully pray: “I accept whatever path you lead me on, Lord.”
