A quinta edição do CCB Fora de Si 2011, patrocinada pelo Turismo de Portugal, decorre durante os fins de semana nos meses de julho e agosto nos espaços exteriores do Centro Cultural de Belém, abrindo espaço à cultura emergente das comunidades imigrantes estabelecidas em Portugal e à diversidade cultural existente em Lisboa.A criação contemporânea proveniente dos países de origem destes grupos residentes é a proposta que apresentamos em paralelo.O programa abre portas no dia 15 de julho com as músicas do mundo, de que destacamos

The fifth edition of CCB Inside Out 2011 sponsored by Turismo de Portugal takes place in July and August during the weekends in open air places of Belém Cultural Centre, strengthening emerging cultures of immigrant communities established in Portugal and the diversity of cultures in Lisbon. Besides, we propose a contemporary creation from the origin countries of these groups of residents. The programme starts on July 15 with world music featuring a concert by Gilberto Gil,

Também o público poderá usufruir deste espaço de lazer e de convívio durante as tardes e noites de verão do CCB.

O projeto Contentores programa duas novas exposições: Inês Amado e Sonia Boyce com curadoria de Paul Goodwin, e António Ole. A zona histórica de Belém com as suas histórias de comércio, viagens e império, as questões que abordam a imigração e o deslocamento são sem dúvida temas na ordem do dia e razões importantes para que o público acorra ao CCB com interesse acrescido.Muitos projetos de rua, com workshops para todas as idades, são uma oferta irresistível, pelo que esperamos pela vossa visita!

has two new exhibits; Inês Amado and Sonia Boyce curated by Paul Goodwin; and António Ole. The historic neighbourhood of Belém, with its stories of trade, travel and empire and the topic addressing regarding immigration are certainly issues on the agenda and constitute important reasons why the public must come to CCB with increased interest. Many street projects with workshops for all ages are an irresistible offer so we hope to see you soon!

O programa deste ciclo de cinema propõe uma perspetiva ampla – mais documental ou mais ficcional, mas sempre ambas as coisas – da imigração em Portugal.José António B. Fernandes dias – Antropólogo e curador de exposições, José António Fernandes dias é autor de numerosos artigos e organizador de vários colóquios, conferências e debates sobre antropologia e teoria da arte, museologia e curadoria de arte contemporânea, e estudos pós-coloniais, em Portugal e no estrangeiro. É autor dos projetos artafrica e Africa.Cont (sendo também diretor deste último projeto).

The programme of this cinema cycle proposes a broad perspective on immigration in Portugal – both on a documentary and fictional level.José António B. em 1997, Luciana Fina e Olga ramos, duas realizadoras, deram início a uma longa pesquisa para a criação de um documentário sobre a comunidade cigana, filmando em várias zonas de Portugal. nesta pesquisa encontraram diversas histórias de tradição e hábitos, inovação e mudança. Pelo caminho, a natureza do documentário recolocou algumas questões e, entre 1997 e 2001, essas questões pediram distintas formas de expressão. esta exposição apresenta todo o percurso da pesquisa realizada.

In 1997 Luciana Fina and Olga ramos, two filmmakers, began a long search for a documentary on gipsy people, filming in various locations of Portugal. This research found several stories of tradition and habits, innovation and change. Along the way, the nature of the documentary brought back some questions and between 1997 and 2001 these questions asked for different forms of expression. This exhibition presents the entire course of the research.

A intervenção de António Ole no projeto Contentores vem na sequência de “The entire world ⁄ transitory geometry” (2010) que realizou no hamburger Banhof, em Berlim. nascido em Luanda, Angola, em 1951, António Ole vive e trabalha nessa cidade. A sua obra inclui trabalhos de desenho, pintura, escultura, colagem, instalação, fotografia, vídeo e cinema. As formas expressivas vernáculas contemporâneas da sua Angola natal, particularmente a arquitetura popular dos musseques, são as suas referências artísticas. O seu trabalho resulta do encontro de duas culturas: a cultura africana e a cultura europeia.

António Ole’s intervention in the Contentores (Containers) project follows “The entire world ⁄ transitory geometry” (2010) that he directed at hamburger Banhof in Berlin. Born in Luanda, Angola, in 1951, António Ole lives and works in this city. his work include drawing, painting, sculpture, collage, installation, photography, video and film. The contemporary vernacular expressive forms of his native Angola, particularly the popular architecture of the musseques (slums), constitute his artistic references. his work results from the encounter of two cultures: african culture and european culture.

O projeto Contentores, criado pela P28, é apresentado, na sua segunda edição, em parceria com o Museu Colecção Berardo, o Centro Cultural de Belém e a Câmara Municipal de Lisboa, entre os meses de abril e outubro de 2011. esta iniciativa apresenta um conjunto de exposições de arte pública contemporânea, que se replica em manifestações de artistas reconhecidos no panorama artístico português e estrangeiro.

The project Contentores (Containers) established by P28 is presented in its second edition between the months of April and October 2011 in partnership with Berardo Collection Museum, Belém Cultural Centre and the City of Lisbon. This initiative presents a series of exhibitions of contemporary public art, proposing demonstrations of renowned artists in the Portuguese art scene and abroad.

A zona histórica de Belém, com as suas histórias de comércio, viagens e império, é o cerne deste projeto artístico, que procura a poesia do local para explorar questões sobre imigração e deslocamento político. O projeto inclui duas instalações das artistas Inês Amado, artista com interesse especial nos processos de diálogo de troca que existem nos trabalhos colaborativos; e Sonia Boyce, artista que integra a coleção da TATe, por ter alcançado proeminência como pintora nos anos de 1980. Boyce tem vindo a mostrar uma preocupação com a inclusão social e as diferenças culturais. Será realizado ainda um debate presidido pelo curador Paul Goodwin (Tate Britain).

The historic area of Belém, with its stories of trade, travel and empire, is the core of this art project seeking the local poetry to explore issues of migration and political shift. The project includes two installations by Inês Amado, an artist with a special interest in dialogue processes of exchange contained in collaborative work; and Sonia Boyce, an artist integrated in the TATe collection, having achieved reputation as a painter in 1980. Boyce has been showing a concern for social inclusion and cultural differences. A debate will be led by the curator Paul Goodwin (Tate Britain).

Quimeroscópio espaço performativo Performing space duarte rato

Quimera: monstro fantástico, composição fantástica, produto da imaginação, sonho, fantasia. Scopio: sufixo adverbial, radical grego, “o que faz ver”. repensar; redesenhar; reutilizar. Quimeroscópio é uma escultura habitável, em plena Praça do Museu, no CCB, que pretende intrigar o visitante, convidando à descoberta da forma e à interação, criando novas possibilidades de atravessar a praça.duarte rato (1975) – licenciado em Arquitetura pela universidade Lusíada de Lisboa em 1999 com formação complementar multidisciplinar. Trabalhou em Lisboa, PT (2000-2005) e Barcelona, eS (2005-2009), atualmente vive em Lisboa e dedica-se a estudos e projetos na área da arquitetura e artes visuais.

Chimera: fantastic monster, fantastic composition, the product of imagination, dream, fantasy. Scopio: adverbial suffix, Greek root, “what makes seeing .” rethink, redesign, reuse. Quimeroscópio is an inhabitable sculpture which aims to intrigue the visitor and it is located in CCB’s Museum Square. It invites the discovery of form and interaction creating new opportunities when crossing the courtyard.duarte rato (1975) – duarte rato has a degree in Architecture from the Lusíada university of Lisbon in 1999, with additional multidisciplinary training. he studied and worked in London (2000-2005) and in Barcelona (2005-2009). Currently back to Lisbon he dedicates to studies and projects in the field of architecture and visual arts.


Casulo Cocoon unidade híbrida móvel hybrid mobile unit duarte rato

O que nos faz pertencer a uma cidade, sentir em casa, ser feliz? no sentido de melhorar as condições de vida dos sem-abrigo e dar resposta a uma situação temporária, propõe-se um abrigo móvel, onde possam pernoitar, transportar coisas e mudá-las de sítio. A ideia do casulo surge como proteção e espaço metamórfico de transição para um estado melhor. Casulo é uma unidade híbrida móvel, construída com peças e materiais reutilizados, que resulta da associação de um carrinho de compras, de uma porta articulada que serve de base para dormir, e de uma tela plástica estruturada com varetas de velhos chapéus de chuva que se transforma num abrigo.

entrada livre Free enTrAnCe What makes us belong to a city and feel at home and happy? To improve the living conditions of the homeless people and respond to a temporary situation we propose a mobile shelter where they can stay overnight, carry their things and move it around the place. The idea of a cocoon emerges as a protection site and a metamorphic space of transition to a better state. Casulo (Cocoon) is a hybrid mobile unit built with reused parts and materials resulting from the combination of a shopping cart, a hinged door that serves as a base for sleeping and a structure made of plastic and old umbrellas turning it into a shelter.

Com dois Cd editados e inúmeros concertos realizados (dentro e fora de Portugal), o dixie Gang celebrou vinte anos de carreira no passado dia 6 de maio de 2011. O programa reflete o percurso da banda e igualmente a evolução do jazz tradicional desde o primeiro registo fonográfico em 1917.

The new album by Tiago Sousa – Walden Pond’s Monk – appears in the market with the north-American label of Immune recordings. Composed under the influence of the revolutionary style of henry david Thoreau, this new work comes from a period of great maturity of the Portuguese composer.


Para este concerto, o Coro Sinfónico Lisboa Cantat apresenta um programa de canções regionais portuguesas, com arranjos de eurico Carrapatoso, vasco Pearce de Azevedo e Fernando Lopes-Graça. esta apresentação está ligada a um projeto de edição discográfica que o Coro iniciou em 2007, em que tem procurado registar obras de compositores portugueses nascidos após 1900.

Fascinated by the variety of musical cultures all over the world, he decided to continue his travelling. he studied music with the local masters of the various countries he visited and learned how to play several traditional instruments, many of them unknown in the Western world, including the Dilruba (India), the Nay (egypt), the Sarangi (India), the Bodhran (Ireland), the Duduk (Armenia) and the Mudbedsh (Iraq). his intention is not to play in a conventional manner but developing and discovering new approaches, outlining a personal vision of musical interculturality.

Com uma forte componente física, possui também uma dimensão espiritual, em que os obstáculos a transpor representam as dificuldades a vencer na vida. um dos lemas desta prática é “ser forte para ser útil”.

Parkour derives from the French word parcour which means route. It defines the practice of making a given route in any environment, overcoming obstacles in a fast, effective and safe way using only one´s own body. With a strong physical component, as well as a spiritual dimension, the overcoming of obstacles represents the difficulties in life. One of the mottos of this practice is “be strong to be useful”.

Apelidados “padrinhos do worldbeat” pela Rolling Stone, os dissidenten tiveram um papel fundamental na abertura da música popular ocidental às músicas do mundo. Trazem ao CCB as suas Tanger Sessions, fusão de rock e de música árabe.Antes de ser moda, o multiculturalismo foi vanguarda, e poucos grupos o levaram tão a sério quanto os berlinenses dissidenten. Formados em 1981, editaram o primeiro disco, Germanistan, durante uma estada na índia. desde então, continuaram a viajar e a editar álbuns inspirados nos sons dessas viagens. em 2008, editaram o Cd Tanger Sessions, base deste concerto, e que foi inspirado no conflito entre o Oriente e o Ocidente que se seguiu ao 11 de setembro de 2001.

named “godfathers of worldbeat” by rolling Stone, dissidenten played a key role in opening Western popular music to world music. They show in CCB their Tanger Sessions, a fusion of rock and Arabic music. Before being in vogue, multiculturalism was the leading role and few groups took it as seriously as the Berlin-based dissidenten. Created in 1981 they edited the first record, Germanistan, during a stay in India. Since then, they continued to travel and edit albums inspired by the sounds of these trips. In 2008 they released the Cd Tanger Sessions – the basis of this concert – which was inspired by the conflict between east and West that arised after September 11, 2001.

The newly formed Pão kicked off a year ago in rescaldo Festival ‘10 but have already been in Galeria Zé dos Bois – Lisbon, Jazz Centre – Coimbra and Casa da Música – Oporto. They explore minimal music by creating masses of progressive and cyclical sounds, sometimes abstract, sometimes melodic.

O filme descreve os últimos meses de um exílio voluntário quando a vontade de regressar a casa se torna cada vez mais presente.

Entre Nós (Between us) results from a challenge launched to twelve filmmakers to create short films around the theme of immigration. The invitation was made by the organization of the Gulbenkian Forum on Immigration and aimed to show, from different creative approaches, the immigrants view of the Portuguese reality and the meaning of being a foreigner in Portugal.Entre Muros (Between walls) follows the daily life of two ukrainians – Sergey and eduard – two illegal immigrants in Portugal. The film describes their last months of voluntary exile when the urge to return home becomes even more present. When they leave Portugal the film follows the early days of their return to ukraine.

Intervenção temporária, num ambiente arquitetónico urbano, coreografada por um grupo de bailarinos. A performance cria um “rasto em movimento” feito pelos bailarinos e pelo público que é conduzido pelas partes escolhidas destes espaços arquitetónicos. A intenção da performance é chamar a atenção para a funcionalidade de certas estruturas urbanas, conferindo-lhe uma possibilidade de movimento.

Temporary intervention in an urban architectural environment and choreographed by a group of dancers. This performance creates a “motion trail” created both by dancers and the audience which are guided by selected parts of architectural spaces. The intent of the performance is to draw attention to the functionality of some urban infrastructures, giving them a chance to move.

In the last years of the 20th century Lisbon hosted the second largest hindu community in europe. The Carsane family, from diu, who and with a stay in Mozambique, now lives in Lisbon. Swagatam follows their daily lives showing some divergences within this community apparently united.China comes down the stairs toward the Martim Moniz neighbourhood in Lisbon. “China, China!”, shout the children when she passes. China will fly and will flee away. She just wants to be happy but sometimes the air seems filled with evil.

Cantor, guitarrista, percussionista e compositor, Cheikh Lô domina toda a cultura musical da áfrica Ocidental e Central, onde dizem que “faz música a partir da paz”.Conhecido pela forma como harmoniza sonoridades diferentes – como o mbalax do Senegal, o highlife do Gana, a rumba congolesa, o reggae, os blues, o jazz e ainda o flamenco – o senegalês Cheikh Lô compõe uma música vibrante de energia. Os espetáculos são verdadeiras celebrações, onde se sente a espiritualidade e a alegria da sua música. O álbum Jamm, de 2010, foi elogiado como um dos melhores do ano.

Singer, guitarist, percussionist and composer, Cheikh Lô dominates the musical culture of West and Central Africa where they say “he makes music based on peace.“ Cheikh Lô is known for the way he combines different sounds – like mbalax from Senegal, Ghana’s highlife, Congolese rumba, reggae, blues, jazz and even flamenco. Cheikh Lô composes songs full of vibrant energy. his shows are true celebrations in which we feel the joy and spirituality of his music. Adding to their main instruments (double bass, tenor sax and drums) a variety of electronic devices, Tricot is a new group that incorporates free improvisation and electro-acoustic experimentation. This group is composed by three famous musicians in the field of creative music.

A young African man – Zé from Guinea – arrived in Lisbon in the mid-1970s in search of an abundant city where all dreams can be realized. But the city is only abundant in movement and in words. Zé from Guinea rose to the occasion and became acquainted with all the protagonists of the new currents, arts and social media.

Oficina de dança contemporânea.no mundo das danças populares de Cabo verde, a Canisade é a menos conhecida. A dança é feita em dueto, em que o movimento alternado do par permite um frasear rápido, tipo “pergunta- -resposta”. nesta oficina, abordaremos o ritmo, o gesto e o movimento da Canisade desenvolveremos as noções de espaço e de alternância, e trabalharemos a improvisação, parte fundamental desta dança.

Contemporary dance workshop.In the world of folk dances from Cape verde, Canisade is the less known. This dance requires two people in which the reciprocate motion of the pair allows quick steps like “question-answer.” In this workshop we will discuss the pacing, gesture and movement of Canisade dance and we will develop notions of space and alternation as well as working on improvisation – a key part of this dance.

Tantos estrangeiros, tanta língua!:P O Mundo não é o que é... por isso vale a pena perder tempo para rever a matéria levando a cabo um jogo-espiral-vertiginoso: “Quem é quem?” Será como voltar aos anos oitenta mas com menos laca. Egosistema será um jogo redefinidor das leis da natureza.

Após a morte da mãe e sem dinheiro, Paco aceita entregar uma encomenda misteriosa, em troca do pagamento da viagem. Pouco tempo depois, Paco apercebe-se do perigoso acordo que havia estabelecido.

Telling the story of Paco, who wanted to visit Portugal – the land of his mother – this film portrays the loneliness experienced by immigrants. After his mother’s death and with no money less saved, Paco agrees to deliver a mysterious package in exchange for payment of his travel. Shortly after, Paco realizes the dangerous agreement that he has established.
