CONTEÚDO 03: ORDINAL NUMBERS (números ordinais)
LEMBRETE: Revise os números em inglês
Para formar os ordinais em inglês não utilizamos o símbolo do grau como em português, mas sim as terminações. Por exemplo, first termina em “st”, logo devemos representá-lo da seguinte forma: 1st 1º = first = 1st2º = second = 2nd 3º = third = 3rd 4º = forth = 4th 5º = fifth = 5th 6º = sixth = 6th 7º = seventh = 7th 8º = eighth = 8th 9º = ninth = 9th 10º = tenth = 10th * Exceções: 11º, 12º e 13º = eleventh, twelfth, thirteenth, = 11th, 12th, 13th
Exemplos:
January 28th
(Vigésimo oitavo dia do mês de janeiro). January is the first month of the year. (Janeiro é o primeiro mês do ano). Bob is the third winner. (Bob é o terceiro ganhador). John is the ninth student of this line. (John é o nono aluno desta fila).

Observe os exemplos:

Quando o sujeito é a terceira pessoa do singular (he, she, it)
em geral acrescentamos -s à forma básica do verbo
- O presente simples é usado para expressar fatos e situações atuais:
I think you are right.
(Eu acho que você está certo.)
Anthony lives in New York.
(Antônio mora em Nova Iorque.)
My wife works in a hospital as a nurse.
(Minha esposa trabalha como enfermeira em um hospital.)
She likes vegetables.
(Ela gosta de vegetais.)
Classes start at 8:00 a.m.
(As aulas começam às oito da manhã.)
- Também é usado para expressar hábitos. Geralmente são empregados junto a advérbios de tempo.
I go to the gym every day.
(Eu vou à academia todos os dias.)
She never watches TV.
(Ela nunca assiste TV.)
He usually leaves the job at 6:00 p.m.
(Geralmente ele sai do trabalho às seis da tarde.)
It usually snows here in January.
(Geralmente neva aqui em Janeiro.)
They never go to the beach.
(Eles nunca vão à praia.)

Principais advérbios e expressões adverbiais de tempo:

FORMA NEGATIVA
Nas frases negativas usamos as formas auxiliares DON’T e DOESN’T e os verbos principais voltam à forma original, sem o -s.
Veja os exemplos abaixo:
I don't like Lucy. (Eu não gosta da Lucy.)
You don't like Lucy. (Você não gosta da Lucy).
He doesn't like Lucy. (Ele não gosta da Lucy.)
She doesn't like Lucy. (Ela não gosta da Lucy.)
We don't like Lucy. (Nós não gostamos da Lucy.)
You don't like Lucy. (Vocês não gostam da Lucy.)
They don't like Lucy. (Eles não gostam da Lucy.)
FORMA INTERROGATIVA
Nas perguntas usamos DO e DOES antes do sujeito. Observe os exemplos:

Do you like Lucy? (Você gosta da Lucy?)
Does he like Lucy? (Ele gosta da Lucy?)
Does she like Lucy? (Ela gosta da Lucy?

Usamos DON’T com as pessoas I, you, we e they.
Usamos DOESN’T com as pessoas he, she e it.

Mesmo quando a pergunta contem pronomes interrogativos (what, where, why, how, when,…) o verbo auxiliar (DO e DOES) aparece antes do sujeito:
Does he like Lucy? (Ele gosta da Lucy?) Why does he like Lucy? (Porque ele gosta da Lucy?)

Atenção: O verbo “to have” (ter) não obedece às regras: não existe HAVES usamos HAS na terceira pessoa do singular. Exemplos:
I have a friend. (Eu tenho um amigo.) She has a friend. (Ela tem um amigo)
CONTEÚDO 06: HOW MUCH / HOW MANY (quanto e quantos)
HOW MUCH = QUANTO HOW MANY = QUANTOS HOW MANY é usado para substantivos contáveis. (muitos amigos, muitas canetas, muitos livros, muitos cigarros, muitas crianças)
Exemplo:How many apples do you have? (Quantas maçã você tem?) How many eggs are there in the fridge? (Quantos ovos há na geladeira?) How many brothers and sisters do you have? (Quantos irmãos e irmãs você tem?) HOW MUCH é usado para substantivos incontáveis e para falar de preços/dinheiro.
(muito café, muito açúcar, muito arroz, muito chá, muito dinheiro, muito trabalho)
Em geral, quando precisamos de uma unidade de medida (litro, kilo, colher, copo, real, dólar, centavo) para quantificar algo usamos how much.
Exemplo: How much (money) is this book? (Quanto é esse livro?)
How much coffee are you drinking? (Quanto café você está bebendo?)
How much time is left? (Quanto tempo resta?)
