Prayer of the Faithful *+*+*+*

The reign of God is upon us; let us call to mind all who are in need of God’s healing and loving presence. For our holy Church as we seek to be agents of healing and unity in a world divided by countless barriers, let us pray to the Lord.

For an end to violence among nations and within our own communities, and for the elimination of the weapons of war and violence, let us pray to the Lord. For the eagerness to proclaim God’s amazing healing in our own lives, let us pray to the Lord. For doctors, nurses, and all those who work with those who are sick, bringing them hope, health, and comfort, especially during this pandemic, let us pray to the Lord. For all who serve our communities as first responders to trage-dies and disasters, especially during these difficult times, and for their families and loves ones, let us pray to the Lord. For all those who are sick, for all who suffer from COVID-19, and for all who have died, let us pray to the Lord. For all the prayers that we hold in the silence of our hearts; for all our intentions spoken and unspoken, let us pray to the Lord.

O God, your Son Jesus broke the bonds of sin and death. Be with us and help us to break down the barriers that keep us and our neighbors from lives of health and wholeness. Hạt Thóc Dâng Tặng Ðức Vua

Có lẽ chúng ta đã có dịp đọc bài thơ sau đây của đại

thi hào Tagore: "Có một người hành khất ngồi bên vệ

đường. Hôm đó, Ðức Vua sẽ ngự giá đi qua ngôi làng.

Người hành khất cố gắng lê lết đến trước cổng làng,

lòng nhủ thầm: "Ðây là dịp may duy nhất đời tôi". Từ

đằng xa, khi vừa thấy xa giá xuất hiện, anh đã cố gắng

đưa tay lên vẫy chào. Có ngờ đâu, trước sự sửng sốt

của mọi người, khi xa giá vừa đến trước cổng làng,

Ðức Vua đã cho dừng xe lại và chính ông là người đưa

tay ra để xin hành khất bố thí.

Người hành khất bèn đưa tay vào trong chiếc bị cũ

kỹ nhơ bẩn của mình để kéo ra một hạt thóc. Anh trịnh

trọng đặt hạt thóc vào trong tay Ðức Vua. Ðức Vua

tiếp nhận món quà từ tay người hành khất và biến đi

giữa cát bụi mịt mù.

Chiều đến, khi về tới nhà, người hành khất mới mở

chiếc bị của mình ra. Lạ lùng thay, giữa muôn hạt

thóc, anh nhận ra một hạt vàng óng ánh. Lúc bấy giờ,

người hành khất mới khốc nức nở hối tiếc: "Phải chi ta

đã cho Ðức Vua tất cả những gì ta có..."

Thiên Chúa đối xử với chúng ta cũng giống như vị

Vua đối xử với người hành khất. Ngài muốn trao ban

cho chúng ta tất cả kho báu trên Thiên Ðàng. Qua

người con một của Ngài là Ðức Giêsu Kitô, Thiên

Chúa muốn trao ban cho chúng ta chính Sự Sống của

Ngài. Qua Sự Sống chúng ta đã lãnh nhận, qua sự hiện

diện của những người anh em chúng ta, qua ngay cả những thất bại và tội lỗi của chúng ta, Thiên Chúa vẫn

luôn nhắc đến với từng người chúng ta như một người hành khất.

Chúng ta tưởng chúng ta đang chìa tay van xin trước. Kỳ thực, chính Ngài mới là kẻ không ngừng đưa tay ra

để xin chúng ta mở rộng đôi tay và quả tim của chúng ta. Tạo dựng chúng ta theo hình ảnh của Ngài, nghĩa là

như những con người có tự do, Thiên Chúa vẫn tiếp tục tôn trọng chúng ta. Ngài muốn trao ban tất cả cho

chúng ta vì yêu thương. Nhưng cũng chính vì yêu thương, cho nên Ngài không làm cách nào khác hơn là van

lơn, kêu mời chúng ta. Ngài chờ đợi nơi chúng ta một cái gật đầu, một hạt thóc nhỏ rút từ trong chiếc bị khốn

cùng của chúng ta. Một nghĩa cử nhỏ mọn làm cho người anh em, một chút tin yêu hy vọng giữa bao nhiêu thử

thách khó khăn của cuộc sống, một chút khiêm tốn và sám hối sau những lần vấp ngã: đó là những hạt thóc bé

nhỏ mà chúng ta có thể trao tặng cho Chúa để từ đó lãnh nhận trở lại tất cả kho tàng Yêu Thương của Ngài. Trích sách Lẽ Sống
