Comprised mainly of rural trails, this is a classic Grand Route (GR), fully accessible to mountain bikes, with stretches of cork tree forests, mountain ranges, valleys, rivers and creeks, in a true journey through time, local culture and nature trails. It comprises a total of 13 sections. Caminho Histórico - Percorre as principais vilas e aldeias num itinerário rural com vários séculos de história. Constituído maioritariamente por caminhos rurais, trata-se de uma clássica Grande Rota (GR), totalmente percorrível também por BTT, com troços de montado, serra, vales, rios e ribeiras, numa viagem pelo tempo, pela cultura local e pelos trilhos da natureza. Inclui um total de 13 etapas. Trilho dos Pescadores - Sempre junto ao mar, seguindo os caminhos usados pelos locais para acesso às praias e pesqueiros. Trata-se de um single track percorrível apenas a pé, ao longo das falésias e mais exigente do ponto de vista físico. Um desafio ao contacto permanente com o vento do mar, à rudeza da paisagem costeira e à presença de uma natureza selvagem e persistente. Inclui um total de 4 etapas e 5 percursos complementares. // Fisherman's Trail - Always running along the coastline, it follows the trails used by locals to get to the beaches and hot fishing spots. It is a single track along the cliffs which can only be travelled by foot, and more demanding from a physical point of view. A challenge to a permanent contact with the ocean winds, the harsh coastal scenery and the wild and powerful natural landscape. A ROTA VICENTINA // THE ROUTE

A Rota Vicentina é uma grande rota pedestre ao longo da costa Sw, entre a cidade de Santiago do Cacém, com interessantes ligações ao culto do Apóstolo e às peregrinações a Santiago de Compostela, e o Cabo de S. Vicente, a Finisterra Portuguesa.

Caminhar ao longo da Rota Vicentina é embarcar numa viagem pessoal inesquecível. Cada passo seu, além de contribuir para a sustentabilidade da economia local promove uma nova consciência colectiva de preservação e reforço dos valores ambientais.

O caminho está integralmente sinalizado, pelo que poderá ser percorrido em total autonomia e segurança. Totalizando mais de 340 kms, está dividido em etapas, desenhadas para serem concluídas num único dia e que não ultrapassam os 25 kms.

// Rota Vicentina (Vicentina Route) is a long distance path along the Sw coast of Portugal, between the city of Santiago do Cacém, with quite interesting ties to the cult of the Apostle St. James and the pilgrimages to Santiago de Compostela, and the Cape of St. Vincent, the Portuguese Finnisterra.

To walk along Rota Vicentina is to embark on an unforgettable personal journey. Each step you take, besides contributing to the local economy's sustainability, promotes a new collective consciousness of preservation and reinforcement of environmental values.

The route is fully marked, so one can walk the entire distance in total autonomy and safety. Totaling more than 340 kms it is divided in sections, with an extension up to 25 kms, conceived to be completed in one single day.

Situada no Sw de Portugal, a Costa Alentejana e Vicentina é a mais bem preservada zona costeira do sul da Europa. Uma pérola guardada por gentes locais e por valores naturais surpreendentes, que apaixona cada vez mais amantes da natureza e do turismo activo e sustentável.

São 110 kms de costa selvagem e cerca de 75 mil hectares de área protegida, inseridos no Parque Natural do Sw Alentejano e Costa Vicentina, banhados pelo Atlântico e temperados por mais de 300 dias de sol por ano.

// Located in the Sw of Portugal, Alentejo and Vicentina Coast is the best preserved coastal area of southern Europe. A true pearl, kept and tended for by its local inhabitants and by surprising natural values, that capture the hearts of more and more nature lovers and fans of active and sustainable tourism.

All in all, it's 110 kms of wild coastline and 75 thousand hectares of protected area within Sw Alentejo and Vicentina Coast Natural Park, bathed by the Atlantic and pampered by over 300 days of sunshine per year.
