inserção de tecnologia no ensino (Prensky, 2001; ARAÚJO, 2005; PAIVA, 2001;

2004; 2009; 2013).

“Forums in Moodle allow teaching staff and students to exchange comments and

questions in a public discussion space. You can also use it to introduce yourself or

to take any questions. This allows everyone in the site to share information and

benefit from each other’s opinions and input. Simply, it’s a place where messages

can be posted for public display”. (CARRINGTON-LONG, 2013, p. 5)

Click on the forum link to open it.

Read the instructions in the forum description below. Click ‘Add a new discussion

topic’ button to start the discussion.

This action brings up an editor where you can type in your message. You can also

Learning the concept of Genre……

In our next activity…

You should look at the images below and find the synopsis on the web?

Chris is a teenager boy who lives in New York with his family. Every day, he has unusual situations in his life set out in a humorous way.

They are two brilliant physicists who share the same apartment and they have two other friends, they are nerds. When Penny, a beautiful young girl, moves into the apartment next door, leaving things more interesting.

She had her life destroyed by the powerful Grayson’s family when she was a child. Now, she decides to take vengeance on each of them.

Our entire way of life depends on electricity. So what if she just stopped working? Well, one day, like a switch turned off, the world is suddenly brought back to the dark ages. And the life of a young girl is dramatically changed because her family had something to do with the blackout.

The story is about two vampire brothers who are in love with a young girl “ Helena “. Both start a fight to win his soul and help their friends, family and other residents of a small town.

The Winchester brothers travel the United States in his old Chevy waging a battle against darkness and evil. Cursed objects, vampires, witches and evil entities - including a not so nice Santa Claus - are just some of the challenges they have to overcome two brothers.

TASK

Find and underline the names of the Tv shows in the excerpts below:

If you see something supernatural, and fell lost in the fringe, you could be in the middle of a revolution, playing the game of

thrones, in a real lying game, or chasing a revenge in the walking dead with a true blood. You know, just lie to me or

maybe question yourself about the big bang theory and think about how continuun in a lipstick jungle with your friends.

So … how many Tv shows (names) you can find? Write then:

Developing discursive capacity

Objectives:

• To know the prevailing discourse: elements of the narrative.

• To know the prevailing sequence: narrative phases.

TASK 06

1- Search on the web. What are the narrative elements? Make a list.

Use a text editor to write a list and upload the file.

2- About the narrative elements, complete the sentences with the appropriate definitions.

- Themes - Characters - Plot - Structure - Setting -

- Point of View - Tone - Symbolism -

a) is the view from the character telling the story, who is narrating the story. There are two main types: First Person, the narrator uses "I" to tell the action, and is involved in the story; and Third Person, the story is told from a perspective outside the story. The characters are referred to by name, or as he, she or they.

b) is how the story is made up to be, such as the genre, the climax which is the high point of the story, that leads to resolution, if the story has an opened or closed end, if there are stories within stories, if there are flashbacks or does it proceed chronologically and how respond to themes in the main narrative.

c) is the lesson learned from the story. It can be visual and verbal .It is the way that writers use language to express complex ideas via imagery--the use of the senses to evoke ideas through mental picture, and figurative language--use of language that is connotative, that alludes to some other meaning than what it is. Examples are metaphors and similes, allusions and references, imagery of imprisonment or of freedom, etc.

d) are what the story is all about, the central meaning of a text, film or serie.

e) is the mood or feeling you get from hearing the story. It is how writers and directors reveal attitudes or feelings through their use of elements, such as humor, irony, negative impression, expecting suspense or lightheartedness or dire peril. The directors may notice specific lighting, settings, or visual and auditory elements that suggest that mood.

f) is where the story is taking place. Time, place, and social climate are elements of the setting. Time can refer to time of day, time of year, even time in the chronology of the life of the individual. Place, simply put, focuses on the geographic backdrop against which the characters are placed and the physical world in which they exist. Social climate often has later importance in the tale. In varying the social climates in stories, directors are allowing viewers to visit realms with which they may have no familiarity.

g) are who plays a role in the element. Their performance are critical to the development of the action. There are main and minor, the protagonist and the antagonist.

h) is the sequence of events that take place in a story. It is the main idea behind the story, a pattern of cause and effect or conflicts upsetting the equilibrium of a situation.

3- Now, try to relate the narrative elements that you researched in Portuguese with those reported in the previous activity, which are in English. List the most you can. Use a text editor to write your list and upload the file.

Now, its your turn again: try to analyze the first episode of a famous Tv

show: “Revenge”

TASK 07

Go to library and watch the first episode of “Revenge” and make an analysis of the elements of the narrative present in the video.

A lingua franca (also called a working language, bridge language, vehicular

language or unifying language) is a language systematically used to make

communication possible between people not sharing a mother tongue, in

particular when it is a third language, distinct from both mother tongues. Lingua

francas have arisen around the globe throughout human history, sometimes for

commercial reasons (so-called "trade languages") but also for diplomatic and

administrative convenience, and as a means of exchanging information

between scientists and other scholars of different nationalities. The term

originates with one such language, Mediterranean Lingua Franca. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lingua_franca acesso: 03/12/2013

O inglês como língua franca, o qual enfatiza a pluralidade de “ingleses”, busca

o reconhecimento das variedades, aceitam que as línguas mudam e se
