Bem-vindos!

Bem-vindos!

ebe the best, to be first, or to be the one that stands out from the rest.

In school there was always another test to be taken and, if you graduate, you know that continued study is necessary in order to remain competitive in the realm of employment.

But there is a more important goal in life, although many people don’t even pay attention. The prize for winning this competition is nothing less than eternal life.

In this tournament we play against a team call Sin, captained by Satan. A team that does not play by the rules. It doesn’t want to just win the game, it wants to eliminate each of its adversaries. To lose to sin means defeat forever.

The good news is that God created us to be victors over sin and evil.

The captain of our team is Jesus Christ. He conquered sin turning the game around, when everyone thought He would lose. Because

of this, Jesus will help us to set up a strong defense against sin and Satan. Jesus will help to dribble through the enemy’s defenses and score many goals for eternal life.

The tactic is simple: Allow Jesus to be the Captain of our heart. He will help us to defeat evil and we will be sure to celebrate victory.

The decision is ours, no one can force us to follow Jesus. But when we do, we have made the decision to join a winning team. With Jesus, victory against sin, evil, and the things that can enslave our body, soul and spirit, is certain. Just as He was victorious, we will be conquerors.

The best part is that the prize will be given to ALL who follow Jesus, not just one. Jesus promised the crown of eternal life for all who follow Him.

“Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life.” Revelation 2:10

RUMO 5

The greatest prizerun around searching for the meaning of life. For several years God has been a real father to me, just as we pray in the Lord’s Prayer.

Jesus, whose resurrection we celebrate at Easter, is my best friend and constant companion. He is always faithfully at my side - whether in the Champions League final against Real Madrid, where we lost, or in the victory fever of the World Cup final. He will still be with me when my name is long forgotten.

I am so grateful to God for so many talents and gifts and that I can play in such a great team with so many really gifted players. But my own personal way to happiness and contentment came only through doing what the Bible says: “Give yourself to the Lord; trust in him and he will help you”, Psalm37:5 GNB.

Jesus is that Lord and you can go that way with him too. If you trust Jesus, you have the chance of gathering in the greatest victory possible in life: God loves you!

“Since my personal relationship with God

began I realized more and more which values are really important in life.”

The world cup in Brazil is a reminder of something we do daily: Looking for

the greatest prize. Each of the competing nations have selected their best players to compete for the ultimate prize in world football.

At the end of the tournament only one winning captain will raise the cup but everyone will be left with the memory of fierce team competition, physical effort, technique and spirit in order to be the best. Although the team we support may not win, we will have the great privilege of watching the world’s best football players in competition.

But competition is nothing new for us, is it? From the time we are born, we become part of a battle to

The greatest victory in my life

We Brazilians are very emotional people. So you can imagine what it was like in July 2002,

when our “seleção” won the World Cup title for the fifth time!

Right there on the pitch my team mates fell over each other in a transport of joy and couldn’t believe their luck: at that precise moment we were in the eyes of the whole world the best footballers on the planet. What an incredible feeling!

But even before the whistle blew to start the final against Germany, I knew for myself that I had to express my gratitude to God somehow. Whenever I experience something really great in my life I think almost automatically in my heart of hearts of God. Since I’ve got to know him I am absolutely sure that there are no coincidences and that he

means well with me.My “Jesus loves you” T-shirt was my

way of letting the world know that my gratitude was all to him; but I also wanted to express that other people can experience the same wonderful things with God that I have.

Since my personal relationship with God began I realized more and more which values are really important in life.

A lot of football fans often think that we professional players are happy, because we earn a lot of money and can buy what we like.

But that is a great mistake! The things that can really make you happy can’t be bought for all the money in the world. Now I’m talking here most of all about the feeling and the knowledge of being “at home” with God and not having to

Welcome!This word means a

lot to the person who arrives at a place that is not their own home. It means that the person is being well received and that they are not disturbing, but rather making the moment being lived more special.

Working in Brazil for more than 90 years, The Salvation Army feels at ease in joining our voice to that of the Brazilian people to say “Welcome!”

Our desire is that all of the tourists (domestic or not) feel at home and take full advantage of their stay to enjoy this beautiful country.

Beyond that, Brazilian Salvationists are praying and working so that all will turn out well and this championship will represent the peaceful union and fellowship of our peoples. Our dream is to see, regardless of the outcome of the games, that all feel good and have enjoyable memories of their visit.

Whatever we can do to help, please contact us for our support, prayers and friendship
