Rio de Janeiro, one of the coolest cities in the world. We started to have a look at Rio
from the other side of the bay.
Rio here we come! Hat, chequered trousers, Havaianas, Ray-Ban. I'm ready all right!

The Niterói Contemporary Art Museum is situated in the city of Niteroi and is one of the
city's main landmarks.
Designed by Oscar Niemeyer, the MAC-Niterói is 16 meters high. Its cupola has a
diameter of 50 meters with three floors.

In the background, Rio de Janeiro with the sugar loaf mountain.
A wide access slope leads to the Hall of Expositions.

Next to the museum there is this little island with in the background Corcovado and the
Christ statue.
Further down the bay you can find Fortaleza de Santa Cruz da Barra.

Built in the 17th century to protect the bay against invadors.

On the other side of the bay, Christ the Redeemer on Morro de Corcovado. The statue
has become an icon of Rio and even of Brazil.
This tree reminds me of our trip to the Amazon.

This side of the bay: a quiet beach and some fishermen. On the other side: a city with
over 7 million inhabitants.
According to the people from Rio, the most beautiful thing about Niteroi is the view on
Rio.

We're in Rio. On the top floor of the Orla hotel, we have an excellent view on Copacabana
beach.
Copacabana beach is probably the most famous beach in the world and is about 4 km
long.

The Copacabana promenade is a pavement landscape and was designed by Roberto Burle
Marx.
When you look to the right you can see Forte de Copacabana.

Very nice view on the fort.
And from the fort you have an excellent view on Copacabana beach.

Let's go have a coffee at the Café do Forte, located on the seaside ramparts of the Forte
de Copacabana.
This is a great place to spend some time. Good coffee!
