Chile Traditional clothing includes a Chupalla, a hat made of straw, and a Charmanto, a colourful poncho, usually made of silk or wool, that can be worn on either side. Today women dress in a sexy way, combining tight dresses with high-heeled shoes. Men wear formal clothing, except when they’re relaxing at home. Generally, men wear dark colours. It’s not very common to see a man dressed in orange… Hawai The traditional costume for women to wear is a coconut-shell top and a grass skirt or a flowery dress and, of course, a colourful headband made of flowers. Israel Orthodox Jew women can’t wear trousers. They can only wear skirts or dresses falling below the knees and in dark colours. Most married women cover their hair. Orthodox Jew men wear suits or long coats and have long side curls in their hair. D A B Japan In Japan the most traditional outfit is the Kimono. It means “a thing to wear”. It is always combined with wooden shoes. India In India women wear a Sari, which means “strip of cloth”, around the waist and over the shoulder. Usually it is very colourful. C E Arab world Women use a Hijab, a veil that covers the head and chest, and an Abaya, a long cloak. In some Arabic countries women wear a Burqa, a type of veil that covers all the body, even the eyes. Men use a Thawb, a long tunic, and a Kufiya with a round black piece of cloth called the Agaal, to keep the Kufiya in place on the head. F
