Nella parte inferiore il tubo aumenta progressivamente di diametro per conferire rigidità al telaio. Assieme al movimento centrale integrato, consente un risparmio di peso pari a 120 grammi.

The seatmast is an integral part of the frame, gradually tapering to oversize dimensions until it comes into contact with the bottom bracket. Countless technical editors have praised this feature for the responsive handling it provides. The interior diameter of the upper portion of the seatmast is 31.6 mm so that it can be cut and used with a traditional seatpost, if necessary.

Seamless construction that does away with joints, glues and bolts. The dropouts are part of the unified rear triangle and an essential component of the carbon monocoque frame mold. As part of the continuous seat and chainstays, the angles of this area of the frame structure have been relaxed to dissipate road vibrations and improve comfort as well as handling.

In addition to our Wilier Frame Testing procedures implemented during production, Wilier Triestina has chosen to have its products undergo the most rigorous testing in the bike industry in order to conform with the latest safety standards established by the European Community. Per noi era una sfida: costruire una Cento1 ancora più leggera e ancora più resistente.Ne è nata Superleggera, il top assoluto fra i telai per la competizione. Uguale a Cento1 nella forma e nelle caratteristiche tecniche, Superleggera è stata testata durante tutta la stagione 2009 dai professionisti del team Lampre Ngc. Il telaio presenta una maggiore componente di carbonio 46 Ton e, in alcuni punti, di fibra ancora più rigida del valore assoluto di 60 Ton.Innovativa è anche la disposizione degli strati di carbonio, con l’aggiunta di un nuovo tessuto esterno antivibrazioni, più resistente agli impatti.Siamo intervenuti anche nella scatola integrata del movimento centrale, alleggerendo sensibilmente la parte interna in alluminio. Inoltre, nel tubo sterzo le calotte monoscocca in carbonio hanno preso il posto di quelle applicate in alluminio. La ricerca della massima economia nel peso si è spinta sino alla verniciatura, che grazie a speciali tecniche e materiali consente di rendere molto più leggero il rivestimento finale del telaio.Risultato: 130 grammi in meno e sicurezza ai massimi livelli.

Identical to the Cento1 in form and technical characteristics, we have utilized the potential of carbon materials to reduce the weight of the Cento1 Superlight while ensuring the ride quality, efficiency and durability of a bike capable of taking both gold and silver medals at the World Championships.The Cento1 Superlight was ProTour tested by Team Lampre in 2009. It is constructed primarily of 46 Ton carbon fiber, while benefitting from the strategic implementation of its even stiffer cousin, Mitsubishi 60 Ton. Its unique and innovative carbon layup also makes it more impact-resistant than other ultra-lightweight materials, and we’ve even come up with a lighter, more svelte aluminum sleeve which is molded into the monocoque construction during the final carbon curing process. Research led us beyond materials all the way to paint. The final protective layer on a Cento1 Superlight is a specially formulated paint that provides the same elegant beauty that typifies Wilier Triestina bikes while reducing weight.The result of all of this R&D? The Cento1, which carried Alessandro Ballan to his solo victory at the Varese World Road Championships, embodies the ideals of light weight and lateral stiffness thanks to features like its reinforced bottom bracket that fully integrates standard cranksets, its asymmetric stays and the oversize, squared profile of its fork crown and head tube. Basta sfiorare un pulsante e la catena guizza con precisione micromillimetrica nella posizione desiderata: è Di2, il rivoluzionario cambio elettronico Shimano per il quale Wilier Triestina ha riformulato secondo un progetto specifico il telaio Cento1. In assenza di comandi meccanici, anche la regolazione del deragliatore avviene in automatico in base alla posizione della catena. La batteria dispone di un’autonomia media dichiarata di duemila ore. Tutti i componenti Di2 hanno superato test di prova in condizioni estreme e vengono garantiti da Shimano per tre anni. Durante la cambiata l’impulso elettrico è trasmesso da cavi alloggiati all’interno del telaio. Grazie all’ ICS (Inside Cable System), il cambio non necessita più di guaine esterne, con evidenti vantaggi nell’estetica e nella funzionalità.

The Di2 control buttons transmit electronic impulses via insulated wiring that is now routed internally as part of our Inside Cable System (ICS), providing both esthetic and functional benefits.

Le biciclette Wilier Triestina vengono sottoposte a una serie di test durante l’intero ciclo produttivo. I telai, realizzati con materiale accuratamente selezionato, per entrare in produzione devono superare prove di stress realizzate a campione che certifichino il rispetto dei criteri costruttivi. Nello stabilimento di Rossano Veneto, prima di accedere al montaggio i telai vengono ulteriormente testati per mezzo di una macchina che valuta con precisione micromillimetrica la resistenza alla torsione. Questa dotazione tecnologica, voluta da Wilier Triestina a ulteriore garanzia della qualità dei propri prodotti, agisce con un sistema di pressioni e leve ed è in grado di misurare la rigidità dei telai nella serie sterzo, nella scatola del movimento centrale, nel carro, nel batticatena, nella forcella e nella struttura nel suo complesso.La misurazione elettronica della rigidità ci consente di fornire al Cliente la totale certezza del rispetto dei più severi parametri di sicurezza. Inoltre, rappresenta un’ importante contributo alla progettazione interna e viene utilizzata sia per verificare la costanza di produzione, sia per testare le personalizzazioni dei telai richieste dai ciclisti professionisti.

Wilier Triestina bicycles undergo a series of tests as part of their production.The frame prototypes, which are made from carefully selected materials, must pass stress tests before entering into production so as to have the proper specifications. Before final assembly at the Rossano Veneto facility, the finished frames are then tested for resistance to torsion on a new machine with precision to the micro millimeter.This in-house equipment, demanded by Wilier Triestina to further guarantee the quality of their products, acts together with a system of pressure and levers and is capable of measuring the stiffness of the frames in the head set, bottom bracket, chain stays, fork and in the structure as a whole. This additional inspection allows for a supply of product to the client with total certainty of compliance with the strictest safety parameters. The electronic measurement of the stiffness represents an important contribution to product development and design, and will come to be utilized to verify the consistency of the product as well as to test the personalized frames requested by professional teams.

La sua particolarità è rappresentata dalla cura estrema posta sui flussi aerodinamici. Nella concezione delle forme e nella disposizione delle fibre di carbonio si è tenuto conto di due principi: ridurre al minimo le superfici frontali mantenendo un grado elevato di rigidità laterale. Le nervature di rinforzo presenti nei tubi, nella forcella e nel carro, oltre a produrre un effetto estetico molto originale enfatizzano questo concetto, denominato “Wind Friendly”. Le scanalature hanno il vantaggio di apportare più rigidità senza influire sul peso.Per realizzare questo telaio Wilier Triestina si è avvalsa della collaborazione di John Cobb, l’esperto di aerodinamica di fama mondiale che ha disegnato Tri-Crono.Imperiale riprende alcuni concetti base che hanno contribuito al successo di Cento1. Il tubo sella integrato costituisce un elemento unico con il tubo verticale fino all’innesto con la scatola del movimento centrale. Con questa soluzione il telaio risulta più stabile, mentre la rientranza per accogliere la ruota posteriore ne aumenta l’aerodinamicità. Come nella Cento1 la scatola del movimento centrale è integrata e di dimensioni maggiorate, mentre il carro (simmetrico, a differenza della Cento1) è composto da due elementi monoscocca che nella parte superiore vanno ad avvolgere lo snodo del tubo sella: un particolare molto estetizzante che si traduce in maggiore solidità. La forma del movimento centrale nasce da accurati studi aerodinamici: l’inserzione dei foderi crea nella parte inferiore due profili a “pinna” che scorrono per tutta la sua lunghezza. La forcella e i forcellini posteriori presentano una sezione alare aerodinamica con spessori ridotti.Lo sterzo è sagomato in modo da offrire la minima resistenza all’aria ed è punto d’incontro dei profili di rinforzo. Le linee della forcella proseguono nella scatola sterzo senza sbalzi di superficie. L’aerodinamica del tubo obliquo è accentuata dalla presenza di una “pinna” di evidente ispirazione crono.

The combination of the right tubing shapes and directional carbon fiber layup orientations made it possible to reduce frontal area, effectively direct airflow and ensure optimal lateral rigidity. The reinforced construction at strategic points along the Imperiale’s tubing, fork and rear triangle have made it possible to attain ideal frame stiffness characteristics while reducing weight.As always, we have partnered with the most renowned materials and performance experts to create another of the world’s most advanced bikes. Internationally acclaimed aerodynamics expert John Cobb, who designed our cutting-edge Tri-Crono time trial bike, was a trusted advisor throughout the development of the Imperiale. With the principles of aerodynamics guiding many aspects of the Imperiale’s design, our award-winning Cento1 influenced considerations that would contribute to ride quality, including a new aerodynamic, integrated seatmast. The Imperiale boasts the same bottom bracket design concept as the Cento1: reinforced, oversize dimensions and fuller integration of prominent industry standard cranksets. The rear triangle, on the other hand, is comprised of two monocoque elements: the seat stays are joined at the aerodynamic seat tube that directs airflow around and past the rear wheel, maximizing stability and contributing to the bike’s distinctive look. Meanwhile, the outer form of the bottom bracket has been influenced by the latest findings in aerodynamics research: the Imperiale’s chain stays are joined to the underside of the bottom bracket, forming two “splitters”. Both the fork and rear dropouts have been redesigned for enhanced aerodynamics. The head tube is reinforced for strength and, along with the fork crown, is shaped to reduce drag; their combined profile forms a minimalist frontal area that slices through the air.
