PRAYAGRAJ : After the arrest offormer MLA Khalid Azeem akaAshraf, fresh crackdown hasbeen launched on the associatesof Mafioso-turned-politician AtiqAhmed. Details of properties ofAtiq, a former MP, and his gangmembers are being collected andraids are being carried out attheir residences and hideouts,officials said.
Meanwhile, police tookremand of Ashraf and recoveredhis licensed pistol whose licencewas cancelled soon after he wentabsconding two years back.
In the recent crackdown, raidswere being carried out at residen-ces of Mohd Abbas and MohdAkhtar aka Balam in old city areaunder ADG zone Prem Prakashand SSP Abhishek Dixit onThursday night.
Balam is a history-sheeter andwas arrested in Shahdol districtof Madhya Pradesh on Thursday.Abbas also went into hiding aftercrackdown was launched. Aheavy force reached their resi-dences in Atarsuiya area and sen-ior officials questioned their kin.As Abbas was not found at his res-idence, three of his cars wereseized and taken to Atarsuiyapolice station.
ADG zone Prem Prakash said14 cases had been lodged againstMohd Akhtar aka Balam in Pray-agraj and Bhadohi districts.Abbas has 16 cases registeredagainst him and instructionswere given to identify his proper-ties which he earned through ille-gal means and seize them, theADG added.
SSP Abhishek Dixit saidformer MLA Ashraf’s remandwas taken by Khuldabad policeand his licensed pistol was recov-ered from the house of his aideMohd Talib in Mariadih. Talibwas arrested and was being ques-tioned. The pistol’s licence wascancelled but Ashraf did notdeposit the weapon. Ashraf wassent back to jail after the recoveryof the firearm, the SSP added.

GHAZIABAD : Former chief engi-neer of Noida authority YadavSingh, arrested in a corruptioncase, has been released fromDasna prison after securing bailfrom Allahabad High Court.
According to a Dasna jail offi-cial, Yadav was released after hesubmitted the bail order by theAllahabad High Court in theCBI special court on Thursday.
The Central Bureau of Inves-tigation (CBI) had, recently,
filed three charge sheets in aspecial Ghaziabad court againstSingh and others for allegedlycausing financial loss to Noidaauthority.
The former Noida chief engi-neer, Yadav Singh, is accused ofallegedly amassing wealth dis-proportionate to his knownsource of income. The CBI hassaid that the assets were alleg-edly acquired by him between2004 and 2015. ANI
