The apart hotel has 22 apartments and can serve up to 44 people. The ground floor

apartments are designed mainly to elder people with reduced physical mobility and

therefore, have a slightly larger area than the upper floor, which in turn have the balcony

with larger area overlooking to the sea. The apartments have different layouts according

to the needs of each senior. Some have kitchens (with refrigerator, sink and electric

stove); others don't have kitchen, but have an office or a larger closet. To avoid the idea

of a long corridor, it was opted to make a curved form and to put the access doors of

the apartments backward. It is noteworthy, that the corridors have adequate size with

2,20 m of width for the comfortable passage of wheelchairs. Shafts were designed for

the passage of the pipes needed (water, sewer, power and medical gases, if the elderly

need.) Near the apartments, on both floors, it has been taken advantage of the space in

the middle of the stairwell to put a temporary wardrobe.

In the services area are the cloakrooms for the staff (where the wet area with

showers stayed separate from the area with toilets). The laundry is connected to the

wardrobe room with direct access to the external area, where are the clothing poles. The

kitchen was designed according to the functionality and practicality during the day,

without forgetting the principles of hygiene. Still in the kitchen, there is a room designed

to a nutritionist who has direct access to the restaurant, where elderly people can easily

search for that professional to talk. The restaurant and coffee bar are interconnected

using the same kitchen and have easy access to it. It was created several windows

allowing natural light and cross ventilation. The entrance to the restaurant and coffee bar

was positioned close to the hall, because eventually will be offered lunches or dinners for

the families or community. The front entrance is protected against the weather by the

projection of the upper floor and the hall has double height, favoring the natural cooling.

From the lobby and reception, the medical area is accessed, where is located the

emergency room, clinic room and pharmacy. it was created windows a little bit backward,

that are closed with fixed wooden shutters to reduce heat gain and ensure privacy.
