O programa em Políticas Públicas, Estratégias e

Desenvolvimento tem por objetivos, contribuir para a

renovação conceitual e instrumental da ação pública;

para o desenvolvimento, no contexto da

transformação do papel do Estado e de suas políticas,

levando-se em conta as estratégias inovadoras dos

atores sociais e de empresas; capacitar seus

participantes para a identificação de prioridades,

lacunas e possibilidades de ação, no campo das

políticas públicas; habilitar seus participantes para a

tomada de decisão nos processos estratégicos,

voltados para a mudança institucional e para o

desenvolvimento.

Institutional goals

• To contribute to the renewal, conceptually and practically, of public action oriented toward development.

• To provide a focal point for discussion and studies on varieties of capitalism, government and businesses, innovation, biodiversity, and

governance.

This research area’s goals include:• Linking new technological trajectories with institutional change and

public policies; • Knowledge governance: policies and regulation for the production ,

circulation, utilization, and protection of knowledge assets.

• Understanding the relationship between catching-up and intellectual property;

• Analyzing the policies, institutions, and conflicts of interest of the National Program for the Production and Use of Biodiesel.

History

• MINDS was founded nine years ago as a group of like-minded academics and intellectuals concerned with development strategies.

• The group’s research was founded on an interdisciplinary approach, where historical analysis, economic sociology, institutional, evolutionary where building blocks.

• MINDS has adopted, in the past three years, the think tank model, committing itself to strategic thinking and capacity building.

• Currently, it’s reshaping itself with an emphasis on global governance issues and Brazil’s emergence as a “global player”.

• a tightly woven network of national and foreign

professionals and scholars;

• nine years of rigorous academic output and successful meetings,

• a host of capacity building initiatives;

• and contributions to new research programs and institutes embedded in leading Brazilian universities.

• an international “think tank” addressing research and policy issues regarding the challenges and opportunities for developing countries in the areas of governance and development.
