AFIXOS É uma letra ou grupo de letras que se acrescenta ao começo

(prefixo) ou final (sufixo) da raiz de uma palavra para formar novas palavras. Por exemplo , quando a raiz comfort é acrescida do prefixo un- e do sufixo – able, forma-se uma nova palavra: uncomfortable.

O conhecimento dos afixos é muito importante porque facilita a identificação de novas palavras e, em consequência, a compreensão durante o processo de leitura. Além disso, possibilita ao leitor ampliar seu vocabulário pessoal.
