APRESENTAÇÃO O uso de músicas na sala de aula é sugerido aqui como material de apoio

ao professor. Sua utilização poderá auxiliar na formação do cidadão, permitindo o

aprendizado e o desenvolvimento de habilidades de comunicação social, revelando

uma forma agradável de aprendizagem.

Este trabalho é composto por dez unidades independentes, podendo ser

utilizadas em turmas do Ensino Médio ou adaptadas para o Ensino Fundamental.

Para cada música foram desenvolvidas atividades de Listening, Speaking, Grammar/Vocabulary, Reading e Class Discussion.

Para um bom desempenho de nossas atividades, usaremos a TV Pendrive

e vídeos relacionados com as músicas e temas propostos.

Assim, o aluno, além de aprender uma Língua Estrangeira poderá

também:

Aperfeiçoar sua compreensão auditiva;

Ampliar o conhecimento cultural;

Desenvolver e adquirir vocabulário;

Despertar seu interesse pela Língua Inglesa;

Fixar estruturas gramaticais e

Refletir sobre assuntos do cotidiano.

O objetivo deste trabalho é destacar a importância da música no ensino-

aprendizagem, utilizando-a como fonte motivadora e de forma aprazível, cultivando

o interesse na aprendizagem da Língua Inglesa.

Sua utilização em sala de aula não deve ser centrada somente na

ludicidade e afetividade (Dommel e Sacker apud Rosin; Tinoco, 1998), mas na

construção da inserção cultural e no aperfeiçoamento da compreensão e do

aprendizado de tópicos gramaticais.

Curiosity Fun Facts about black - eyed peas:

Cultivated since pre - historic times in China and India and they are related to the mung bean.

Brought to the West Indies from West Africa by slaves.

Used as food for livestock. During the Civil War, black - eyed peas and

corn were ignored by Sherman's troops. In the South American eating black - eyed

peas and greens on New Year's Day is considered good luck because peas symbolize coins and greens symbolize money.

The black eye in the center of the bean reminded some of a nun's head attire.

Elvis Presley

Elvis Aaron Presley (January 8, 1935 – East Tulepo – Mississipi) was an American singer, musician and actor. He was called “The King’n’Roll”.

In 1945, Elvis participated in a talent competition where he got to take part in second place surging “Old sheep” but in the same years his father gave him a guitar that was his constant friend. His initial influences came through Gospel Music that he heard at Assembly of God where his parents used to go to. Presley himself stated: “since I was two years old, all I knew was Gospel Music”.

He started his career singing “All Right, Mama” appearing this way the rock’n and roll.

In 56, Elvis became an international sensational, threatening prejudice an a conservative society for that time.

He had a versatile voice and unusual successes including other genres like Gospel, Blues and Pop.

He is one of the best selling and most influential artists in history of popular music.

Because of health problems, drugs and other factors he died at age 42 but his memory is immortal.

He started to sing and dance when he was 5 and he began his professional carrier at 11 years with his brothers. ABBA

Agnetta Faltskog, Bjorn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson and Anni-Frid Lyngstand (was born in Noruega) created one of the quartets more popular in the pop music to 70’s. Everybody with a musical past with roots in Sweden. The ABBA introduced themselves to the public by the first time in 1973 when they participated at Eurovison Festival, invite motivated by the success that they got with the single “People Need Love”.

It was in 1974 that the quartet changed the name to ABBA, a acronym of their names and then the group entered to Eurovison Festival, winning the competition with the theme “Waterloo”

They produced many successes like “Mamma Mia”, “Fernando or Dancing Queen”, but spite of some negative criticises, the public continued loving the band.

In 1982, the band dissolved, but in the following years, the musicians tried to develop projects to sing by solo, without success.

The girl from Ipanema is the kind of song that inspires myth and it is the

most known song of Bossa Nova and MPB. In 1962 Antonio Carlos Jobim an Vinicius de Moraes wrote the lyrics to “ The Girl from Ipanema” while sitting at the bar of a Rio de Janeiro Restaurant after observing the teenager Heloisa Eneida Menezes Paes Pinto (Hello Pinheiro) as she passed by on her way to the beach. The girl from Ipanema represents a cheerful and fascinating girl.

Hello Pinheiro lived at Rua Montenegro, 22 and after two years and half later, she learned about the song. Maybe in retribution to homage when she got married, she invited Tom Jobim to be her bestman.

Who is K’naan?

Keinan Abdi Warsame was born on the 30th May in 1978 in Mogadishu, Somalia. He is Somail-Canadian poet, rapper and musician. K’naan spent his childhood in Mogadishu and lived there during Somali Civil War, which began in 1991. His aunt, Magool, was one of Somalia’s most famous singers. K’naan’s grandfather, Haji Mohamed, was a poet. K’naan is Muslim, his name, K’naan, means “traveller” in the Somali language. His family moved to Toronto, Ontario neighborhood of Rexdale, where there was a large Somali Canadian community. Hi family still live there. In his new country, K’naan began learning English, much from hip hop albums by artists like Nas and Rakim. In spit of the fact that he could not speak English the young K’naan learned hip hop and rap diction, copying the lyrics and style phonetically. He then, also, began rapping. He dropped out of school at tenth grade to travel for a time, rapping at open mic events and, eventually, returned to Toronto. A remixed version of K’naan’s single “Waving’ Flag” has been chosen as the coca-cola anthem for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, to be held in South Africa. “Waving Flag” was considered one of the best 50 songs in 2009 by the National Public Radio (NPR). The lyric spreads hope and happiness. K’naan explained that this is a song inspired in African customs and it is about love and optimism because music and football put the world together to enjoy happy moments like the ones we will have in South Africa.
