O Past Perfect é utilizado para
descrever uma ação concluída no
passado anterior a outra ação
também concluída no passado (Simple
Past). É sempre usado em períodos
compostos (when, before, after, by the
time) e pode ser acompanhado dos
advérbios already e just.
Para a ação que aconteceu primeiro no
passado emprega-se o Past Perfect –
had+past participle.
Para a ação que aconteceu em um
segundo momento no passado emprega-se
o Simple Past – verbos regulares
terminados em “ed” (ou verbos irregulares)
e uso do auxiliar “did” / “did not” (frases
interrogativas e negativas).
Use the Past Perfect when you are
already talking about the past, and
want to talk about an earlier past
action.
Use the Past Perfect Simple to talk
about an action (or actions) that
happened before another action in
the past.
When I saw him I realized I’d met him before.
• Make sentences in the past perfect with
had / hadn’t + past participle.
• The past perfect is the same for all
persons.
• Be careful: I’d can be I had or I would.
Past perfect refers to the past of
the past.

Zero Conditional
Forma: IF/ WHEN/ UNLESS + VERB (present), VERB
(present simple / imperative)
Vejamos alguns exemplos:
If I take the stairs, my legs hurt. (Se eu subo as escadas, minhas
pernas doem.) – é algo que sempre ou geralmente acontece;
When water gets to 100 degrees Celsius, it boils. (Quando a água
chega a 100 graus Célsius, ela ferve.) – uma verdade;
Don’t interrupt the meeting unless the boss calls.
First Conditional
Forma: IF + SUBJECT + VERB (simple present) +
SUBJECT + WILL + VERB (infinitive without “to”)
If you try it, you won’t regret it. (Se você
experimentar, você não vai se arrepender.) – forte
possibilidade;
If they need it, they will buy it. (Se eles precisarem,
eles vão comprar) – certeza.
Second Conditional
Forma: IF + VERB (simple past) / + WOULD + VERB
(infinitive without “to”)
If I had the money, I would take my dream vacation. (Se
eu tivesse dinheiro, eu tiraria minhas férias de sonho.)
Where would you go if you could* fly?
*Observe que às vezes usamos “could” ou “might” em
vez de “would”.
Third Conditional
Forma: If + PAST PERFECT / WOULD HAVE + PAST
PARTICIPLE
aconteceu.
If I had had the time, I would have taken that trip to Mexico.
(Se eu tivesse tido o tempo, eu teria feito aquela viagem
para o México.)
We would have been on time for the show if we hadn’t gotten
stuck in traffic. (Nós teríamos chegado a tempo para o show
