observed in 1965 that transistors were shrinking so fast that every
year twice as many could fit onto a chip, and in 1975 adjusted the
pace to a doubling every two years.

• Last, but not least, The Internet of Things and Advanced Analytics
• Sensors are cheap and can be put on anything or anyone to track and capture information.
• Sensors are now geo-located, and can be connected to BIM models in the cloud.
• Then we can take this collected data and use advanced analytics to better understand performance at a construction site or at a building or road.
• We’ll be able to predict problems before they occur.
What you see here is Dasher360 an Autodesk research project that is built on top of Autodesk Forge.
The research project aims to connect a 3D BIM model to live asset sensor data. An extension of this is a
POC being built to Integrate the datafeed directly into InfraWorks, with the sensors and current value
tooltips being read in.
Understanding things like temperature, air quality, and occupant movements, among other things,
should lead to achieving better asset performance. For example, knowing when a space is occupied in
a building, or when traffic is likely to be heavy in a tunnel based on past data could help create a more
predictive operations schedule. This is just one example of why IoT is an important data source for the
overall project model.
