dioxide consump�on. Other pigment applica�ons such as prin�ng inks, fibers, rubber, cosme�c

products and foodstuffs account for another 8%.

Xanthan GumOne of the most remarkable proper�es of xanthan gum is its ability to produce a large increase in the viscosity of a liquid by adding a very small quan�ty of gum, on the order of one percent. In most foods, it is used at 0.5%, and can be used in lower concentra�ons. The viscosity of xanthan gum solu�ons decreases with higher shear rates; this is called shear thinning or pseudoplas�city.

Unlike other gums, it is very stable under a wide range of temperatures and pH.

MentholMenthol is an organic compound made

synthe�c or obtained from corn mint, peppermint

or other mint oils. It is a waxy, crystalline substance,

clear or white in color, which is solid at

room temperature and melts slightly above.

The main form of menthol occurring

in nature is (−)-menthol, which is

assigned the (1R,2S,5R)

configura�on.

V�tam�n EVitamin E has many biological func�ons the an�oxidant func�on being the best known.thinning or pseudoplas�city. Other func�ons include enzyma�c ac�vi�es, gene expression, and neurological func�on. Vitamin E also plays a role in neurological func�ons and inhibi�on of platelet coagula�on. Vitamin E protects lipids and prevents the oxida�on of polyunsaturated fa�y acids. Vitamin E has an effect on gene expression. Macrophages rich in cholesterol are found in the atherogene�c �ssue.
