CASTELO DE NOUDAREntre a ribeira da Múrtega e o rio Ardila, situa-se o Castelo de Noudar.A povoação de Noudar foi tomada aos mouros por Gonçalo Mendes da Maiaem 1167. Definida a fronteira com Castela, recebe Foral em 1295 e D. Dinis,tendo em vista povoar o território, cria aqui o Couto de Homiziados de Noudar,um local onde pessoas perseguidas pela justiça podiam viver em paz desdeque daqui não saíssem e protegessem a fronteira. Em 1740 Noudarcontava apenas com 200 fogos e no Séc. XIX a vila é abandonada. The castle is situated between the Múrtega Brook and theArdila River. The old Moorish settlement of Noudar wasconquered by Gonçalo Mendes da Maia in 1167, and followingthe establishment of the frontier with Castile, the townwas granted a charter in 1295. King Dinis, seekingto attract settlers to the area, granted an amnestyfor outlaws in return for a promise not to leavethe territory and to defend it. In 1740, 200houses in Noudar were inhabited, but in the19th century the town was abandoned.
