Pintor húngaro, estudou em Budapest, em Weimar e em Paris; a seguir retornou a Weimar e, finalmente, voltou a Budapest. Exibiu seus quadros pela
primeira vez em 1895. Após 1898 passava todos os verões produzindo em Szolnok. Entre seus trabalhos, os mais famosos são suas telas que
retratam pessoas pobres. Durante as primeiras décadas do século XX, os trabalhos ganharam coloridos mais fortes e variados. Nota-se esta varíável em
paisagens e nas naturezas mortas que retratou. Durante e após a Primeira Guerra Mundial, os temas bíblicos tornaram-se importantes em sua arte. Foi
confinado ao desterro pelas consequências da Segunda Guerra Mundial. Com a reclusão e a falta de recursos produziu pouco com
resultados não criativos.
