GOLDEN TIGERS É uma escola de en-

ENGLISH PROGRAM

Golden Tigers´ English program is made up of three different classes. These classes work to-gether to ensure that our students are bilingual. The reading class empha-sizes the development of strong readers who are capable of understanding, interpreting, evaluating, and analyzing all different types of writing.

The language Arts class develops a student’s writ-ten and oral communica-tion skills. The teaching of English as a Foreign Language is designed to improve the general understanding of English through different active learning experi-ences.

experiences have been happening and it

is safe to say all our students are enjoying

learning different things from math, to his-

tory, to nutrition, to ropes and cloth exercises. Best of all there is still more to

come like: cooking, science, board games, and logical thinking exercises!

Nutrition Christina

Our nutrition classes

encourage students

to discover and learn

about healthy food

choices. They will be

stimulated to discover

the benefits of a

h e a l t h y f o o d

diet. Topics will in-

clude: the food pyra-

mid, healthy eating,

nutritional vocabu-

lary,

food groups, and healthy food combina-tions. Through practical hands-on cooking classes, students will have the opportunity to learn that healthy food can be delicious and that cooking is fun. Take a look at one of the activities they did.

CLASS is off to a great

start. I have been

teaching measurement

so we measured their

mouths, and other

things. I brought a

scale to the next class

and we weighed every-

body. Then we com-

pared everyone ’s

weight. Our last activ-

ity was a blast we used

sugar, rice, beans, and

coffee to show much

each of us weighed.

flexibility, coordination,

balance, strength and stam-

ina. Basically it’s a chal-

lenge and that’s why our

Golden Tigers are having so

much fun!

We stretch before we start .

We make a line alongside

our cloth to understand

the teacher’s explanation,

watch our friends perform and

wait our turn. We are also

learning how to respect each

other and our friend’s limita-

tions.

Three mornings a week, we

have a special moment to

play, learn, and have fun. We

can do whatever we want,

There is only one rule; that

we learn something new. We

can play checkers, tic-tac-toe,

hangman, puzzle, jump rope,

hopscotch, tag, duck-duck-

goose, and hot potato, read

books, watch movies and

more. It’s a moment to turn

on our imagination and crea-

tivity!

Durante os nossos momentos juntos, os alunos

participam de atividades variadas, tais como: brin-

cadeiras com objetos trazidos de casa, DVDs, des-

coberta de curiosidades e fatos interessantes, jo-

gos de cartas e tabuleiro, montagem de blocos e

quebra-cabeças, desenhos espontâneos e leitura

de livros. As crianças também têm a oportunidade

de praticar o inglês durante conversas sobre seu

cotidiano e informando suas necessidades bási-

cas.

Teacher Bruna EP Our first grade students are excited and full of energy, and they are ready for the challenges of first grade. We have been having a lot of fun while learning and discovering new ways of experiencing the world. They have Language Arts every day because a first grader´s language is developing daily. We have been working on manners and being polite with everyone around us. This is an important aspect of the child’s life, from the playground to the classroom. Teaching children to be polite will also help their social development. We have decided to make thank you notes to encourage our students to

practice good manners in the classroom. The kids wrote and drew pictures on the cards and deco-rated then with stickers. Now every time someone helps the kids with anything, they are supposed to give a thank you note and who receives this note must then pass it on. Tip: “Be polite to your child. If your child hands you something, say thank you to him. If you ask your child to do something, always preface it with a please. Practice saying please and thank you with your child. These two simple words will become a part of their daily vocabulary.

After doing a breathing exercise, the children lied down on the floor and closed their eyes.

They listened to a story in English and tried to imagine it. Then they were asked to draw the story.

The goal was to stimulate creativity, attention and concentration; all of which are important skills they will need to become life long read-ers.

Art Teacher Tati Os alunos da Golden conheceram as cores primárias e secundárias e fo-ram desafiados a pintar uma árvore utilizando apenas essas cores.

Desde o início de nossas aulas, o 1° ano, está se divertindo a valer com as grandes novidades de nossa rotina!!! As novas disciplinas estão intrigan-do nossas feras e a cada aula, muitas descobertas são feitas, grandes explo-rações são realizadas e a aprendizagem de nossos alunos se amplia a cada dia!!!

Nas aulas de Matemática trabalhamos com noções de medida e comparação de quantidades. Para es-sas atividades brincamos de salto em distância e exploramos o material dourado. Após a execu-ção dessas tarefas, testa-mos nossos recém adqui-ridos conhecimentos no livro didático “Fazendo e Compreendendo Matemá-tica” .

Em nossas aulas de Português a rima tem tomado conta de nos-sos dias!!! Rima daqui, rima de lá com a ajuda dos livros “Não Con-funda” de Eva Furnari e “Chapeuzinho Amarelo” de Chico Buarque!! Formamos palavras, trocamos outras e demos cara nova as poesias que exploramos. Nessas aulas, também estimula-mos a criatividade e imaginação de nossos Golden Tigers, através da elaboração de histórias. É inacreditável a capacidade de criação de nossos alunos que estão nos surpreendendo com o uso de vocabulário aprimorado e ideias fascinantes.

As aulas de História e Geografia têm permitido que o 1° ano destaque suas características próprias, explorando a individualidade de cada um. Neste bimestre exploraremos a história de nossos alunos, evidenciando suas origens e muitos outros. Preparem-se queridos pais, pois a participação de vocês será fundamental!!! E para finalizar, em nossas aulas de Ciências estamos explorando o corpo humano, conhe-cendo um pouco mais de cada uma de suas parte e suas funções. Destacamos a importân-cia da higiene para prevenção de doenças, assim como a importância de uma boa alimenta-ção para nosso pleno desenvolvimento.
