Cofle was established in 1964 by Bruno Barbieri, who is still the President of the Company. The name “Cofle” is an abbreviation of the Italian words“ Costruzione Fessibili”, that means “Flexible Construction” in English. Cofle’s primary focus was to become a supplier of Automotive Control Cables to OE Italian Manufacturers such as Fiat, Ferrari, Maserati, and Alfa Romeo. After a few years, Cofle made the decision to develop a full range of Automotive Control Cables, suitable to Aftermarket applications. At the same time, Cofle created an OEM Division to produce Pull, Push-Pull and Shift Cables, Joysticks, Mechanical Control levers, Mechanical and Electronic Throttle Pedals and complete Control systems for Agricultural , Industrial and Automotive OEM vehicles.

In 1985, Cofle became a limited company. At this time Mr. Barbieri was joined by his son Walter, who is today Cofle’s General Manager. Cofle’s ability to validate production and material flow processes were essential in achieving UNI EN ISO 9002: 1994 certification in December 1995. Cofle is now certified UNI EN ISO 9001 : 2008.

All components to manufacture COFLE’S products (more than 12.000 parts of different materials such as plastic, rubber, steel, aluminum, copper, iron, die-casting, etc.), are entirely designed by COFLE . We are proud to take care of each and any technical detail during the design and development phases of every single part. This "concept“ is a result of the cooperation between OEM Eng Dpt. and AM Eng Dpt. Their long experience does ensure the development of key, and critical components, through the application of the most updated CAD systems and FMEA techniques , along with the skill to plan and build any necessary tooling to such purpose.

The production of all types of metal outer-casing and its extrusion process are made internally on our own machinery to guarantee that the highest quality of finished product is made available for different applications. The extrusion of inner tubes (main component to ensure both smooth performance and long life of the cable) is made internally on high technology machinery. The production line is controlled by a three-dimensional ultrasound system to guarantee the constant production quality, thickness, dimensions, etc.

All components and molds are planned by COFLE Engineering and purchased from selected , specialized Suppliers . The materials used are verified by statistical control and certificates issued by external laboratories.

COFLE is able to carry out several environmental and performance related tests, in line with the current “Best in Class” OE Requirements as follows : ( All tests are carried out at Cofle HQ Premises)

1 Salt Spray Resistance (standard test on OEM product). 2 Temperature tests – Thermal Cycling (standard test on OEM products). 3 Performance tests – various (standard test on OEM products ). 4 Cyclic fatigue test on bench – load cycling (standard test on OEM products ). 5 Cyclic fatigue test directly on the original clutch- load cycling . 6 Proof load test during cable assembly as well as on finished cables.

On Customer’s demand, COFLE is able to provide the following additional services: -Individual cable marking on the outer-casing (part numbers, names, logos) - Individual cable packaging into poly bags - Production of Customer’s private poly bag, based on Customer’s artwork - Printing of Bar code labels, as per Customer’s EAN codes
