UMA PALAVRA DO PRESIDENTE

Prezados Congressistas,

Sejam bem-vindos ao XXXII Congresso Internacional da Propriedade Intelectual da Associação Brasileira de Propriedade Intelectual.

O tema do Congresso, este ano, o Papel da Propriedade Intelectual na Competitividade Econômica, está alinhado ao trabalho que a ABPI vem desenvolvendo nos últimos anos ao enfatizar a importância da inovação empresarial no desenvolvimento do País e na transformação dessa inovação em ativos empresariais de longo prazo.

Observe-se que hoje, em vista da crise mundial, nossa economia precisa sair ainda mais fortalecida. A inflação está sob controle, a taxa de juros começa a se assentar em patamares razoáveis e o câmbio está competitivo. Temos um mercado de massas que nos coloca em posição de destaque no mercado mundial.

As bases estão postas para o crescimento. Neste sentido é inegável o esforço que está sendo feito pelo conjunto da sociedade para aumentar a capacidade de Inovação no País. Isso pode ser constatado nas pesquisas feitas dentro das universidades, nos incentivos fiscais do governo à inovação e na busca de alternativas pelas empresas para consolidar sua posição de mercado via novos e mais competitivos produtos.

O que comprovaremos nestes três dias de Congresso é o vínculo estreito que une a competitividade empresarial e a Propriedade Intelectual. O programa do evento, minuciosamente elaborado, contempla um amplo espectro de temas da Propriedade Intelectual e inclui debates e palestras conduzidas pelos maiores especialistas na matéria.

A WORD FROM THE PRESIDENT

Dear Participants,

On behalf of the Congress’ Executive Committee, we would like to welcome you to the XXXII International Congress on Intellectual Property held by the Brazilian Association of Intellectual Property.

This year, the Congress’ central topic is the role of Intellectual Property in Economic Competitiveness, which is aligned with the work that ABPI has been developing in recent years, by emphasizing the importance of business innovation in the development of the country and the transformation of this innovation into long term business assets.

Note that nowadays, facing the global crisis, our economy needs to come out even stronger. Inflation is under control, the interest rate is settling for reasonable levels, and the exchange rate allows competitiveness. We have a mass market that puts us in a prominent position in the global scenario.

The foundations are laid for growth. In this regard, there is great effort being made by the society to increase the innovation capacity in the country. This can be seen through research done in universities, government tax incentives to innovation, and companies in permanent search for new ways to consolidate their market position through new and more competitive products.

In these three days of Congress we are going to show the evidence of the close bond that connects business competitiveness and Intellectual Property. The whole program was carefully prepared and offers a broad spectrum of topics on Intellectual Property, including discussions and lectures led by leading experts in the Intellectual Property Community.

I hope you have a rewarding and enjoyable time at ABPI´s XXXII International Congress!
