Segui-o. Quem oprocurar, o encontrará. Prossegui agora, então, pregai o Evangelho do Reino.

E elacomeçou a falar essas palavras: "Eu...", disse ela, "Eu tive uma visão do Senhor e conteia Ele: 'Mestre, apareceste-me hoje numa visão'.

A alma respondeu e disse: 'Eu te vi. Não me viste,

nem me reconheceste. Usaste-me como acessório e não me reconheceste.'

A potência, inquiriu a alma dizendo: 'Onde vais? Estásaprisionada à maldade. Estás aprisionada, não julgues!' E a alma disse: 'Por que me

julgaste apesar de eu não haver julgado? Eu estava aprisionada; no entanto, nãoaprisionei.

Ele a preferiu a nós?" Levi respondeu a Pedro: "Pedro, sempre foste exaltado.

Certamente oSalvador a conhece bem.

The Gospel According to Mary

Chapter 4

...Will matter then be destroyed or not?22) The Saviour said, All nature, all formations, all creatures exist in and withone another, and they will be resolved again into their own roots.

23) For the nature of matter is resolved into the roots of its own nature alone.

24) He who has ears to hear, let him hear.

25) Peter said to him, Since you have explained everything to us, tell us thisalso: What is the sin of the world?

26) The Saviour said There is no sin, but it is you who make sin when you dothe things that are like the nature of adultery, which is called sin.

27) That is why the Good came into your midst, to the essence of every nature inorder to restore it to its root.

28) Then He continued and said, That is why you become sick and die, for youare deprived of the one who can heal you.

29) He who has a mind to understand, let him understand.

30) Matter gave birth to a passion that has no equal, which proceeded fromsomething contrary to nature. Then there arises a disturbance in its whole body.

31) That is why I said to you, Be of good courage, and if you are discouraged beencouraged in the presence of the different forms of nature.

32) He who has ears to hear, let him hear.

33) When the Blessed One had said this, He greeted them all, saying, Peace bewith you. Receive my peace unto yourselves.

34) Beware that no one lead you astray saying Lo here or lo there! For the Sonof Man is within you.

35) Follow after Him!

36) Those who seek Him will find Him.

37) Go then and preach the gospel of the Kingdom.

38) Do not lay down any rules beyond what I appointed you, and do not give alaw like the lawgiver lest you be constrained by it.

39) When He said this He departed.

Chapter 5

1) But they were grieved. They wept greatly, saying, How shall we go to theGentiles and preach the gospel of the Kingdom of the Son of Man? If they didnot spare Him, how will they spare us?

2) Then Mary stood up, greeted them all, and said to her brethren, Do not weepand do not grieve nor be irresolute, for His grace will be entirely with you andwill protect you.

3) But rather, let us praise His greatness, for He has prepared us and made usinto Men.

4) When Mary said this, she turned their hearts to the Good, and they began todiscuss the words of the Saviour.

5) Peter said to Mary, Sister we know that the Saviour loved you more than therest of woman.

6) Tell us the words of the Saviour which you remember which you know, butwe do not, nor have we heard them.

7) Mary answered and said, What is hidden from you I will proclaim to you.

8) And she began to speak to them these words: I, she said, I saw the Lord in avision and I said to Him, Lord I saw you today in a vision. He answered and saidto me,

9) Blessed are you that you did not waver at the sight of Me. For where the mind

is there is the treasure.

10) I said to Him, Lord, how does he who sees the vision see it, through the soulor through the spirit?

11) The Saviour answered and said, He does not see through the soul northrough the spirit, but the mind that is between the two that is what sees thevision and it is [...]

Chapter 8:

...it.

10) And desire said, I did not see you descending, but now I see you ascending. Why doyou lie since you belong to me?

11) The soul answered and said, I saw you. You did not see me nor recogniseme. I served you as a garment and you did not know me.

12) When it said this, it (the soul) went away rejoicing greatly.

13) Again it came to the third power, which is called ignorance.

14) The power questioned the soul, saying, Where are you going? In wickednessare you bound. But you are bound; do not judge!

15) And the soul said, Why do you judge me, although I have not judged?

16) I was bound, though I have not bound.

17) I was not recognised. But I have recognised that the All is being dissolved, both the earthly things and the heavenly.

18) When the soul had overcome the third power, it went upwards and saw thefourth power, which took seven forms.

19) The first form is darkness, the second desire, the third ignorance, the fourthis the excitement of death, the fifth is the kingdom of the flesh, the sixth is the

foolish wisdom of flesh, the seventh is the wrathful wisdom. These are the sevenpowers of wrath.

20) They asked the soul, Whence do you come slayer of men, or where are yougoing, conqueror of space?

21) The soul answered and said, What binds me has been slain, and what turnsme about has been overcome,

22) and my desire has been ended, and ignorance has died.

23) In a aeon I was released from a world, and in a Type from a type, and fromthe fetter of oblivion which is transient.

24) From this time on will I attain to the rest of the time, of the season, of theaeon, in silence.

Chapter 9

1) When Mary had said this, she fell silent, since it was to this point that theSaviour had spoken with her.

2) But Andrew answered and said to the brethren, Say what you wish to sayabout what she has said. I at least do not believe that the Savior said this. Forcertainly these teachings are strange ideas.

3) Peter answered and spoke concerning these same things.

4) He questioned them about the Saviour: Did He really speak privately with awoman and not openly to us? Are we to turn about and all listen to her? Did Heprefer her to us?

5) Then Mary wept and said to Peter, My brother Peter, what do you think? Doyou think that I have thought this up myself in my heart, or that I am lying aboutthe Saviour?

6) Levi answered and said to Peter, Peter you have always been hot tempered.

7) Now I see you contending against the woman like the adversaries.

8) But if the Saviour made her worthy, who are you indeed to reject her? Surelythe Saviour knows her very well.

9) That is why He loved her more than us. Rather let us be ashamed and put onthe perfect Man, and separate as He commanded us and preach the gospel, notlaying down any other rule or other law beyond what the Saviour said.

10) And when they heard this they began to go forth to proclaim and to preach.

Syncretic View of the Gospel of MaryMagdalene

The Gospel of Mary Magdalene has Taoist and Buddhistconcepts presented in first century Christian Semantics.

Jesus is quoted as saying that "All natures, all formed

things, all creatures exist in and with one another and

will again be resolved into their own roots, because the nature of matter is dissolved into the roots of its nature

 alone."

This is very similiar to the Taoist concept of Oneness asexpressed in Chapter 34 of Tao Teh Ching, Speaking of the Tao it says " All things derive their life from it [Tao]

All things return to it, and it contains them."

Another portion of The Gospel of Mary Magdalene describes a soul's journey afterdeath and the challenges it overcomes. These passages are much like The Tibetan Bookof the Dead which reveals the Peaceful and Wrathful Dieties a soul encounters duringits journey after it has separated from the body at death.

This is very similiar to this portion of the Gospel of Mary Magdalene, " When the soul

had overcome the third power, it went upwards and saw the fourth power, (which)

took seven forms. The first form is darkness, the second desire, the third ignorance,

the fourth is the excitement of death, the fifth is the kingdom of the flesh, the sixth is

the foolish wisdom of flesh, the seventh is the wrathful wisdom. These are the seven{powers} of wrath."

Fragments from the Gospel of Mary

[The Coptic papyrus, from which the first six pages have been lost, begins in the middleof this gospel.]

"...will, then, matter be saved or not?"

8/4/2019 Evangelho de Maria Madalena

The Savior said, "All natures, all formed things, all creatures exist in and with oneanother and will again be resolved into their own roots, because the nature of matter isdissolved into the roots of its nature alone. He who has ears to hear, let him hear." [cf.Matt. 11:15, etc.].

Peter said to him, "Since you have now explained all things to us, tell us this: what isthe sin of the world?" [cf. John 1:29]. The Savior said, "Sin as such does not exist, butyou make sin when you do what is of the nature of fornication, which is called 'sin.' Forthis reason the Good came into your midst, to the essence of each nature, to restore it toits root." He went on to say, "For this reason you come into existence and die [...]whoever knows may know [...] a suffering which has nothing like itself, which hasarisen out of what is contrary to nature. Then there arises a disturbance in the wholebody. For this reason I said to you, Be of good courage [cf. Matt. 28:9], and if you arediscouraged, still take courage over against the various forms of nature. He who has earsto hear, let him hear." When the Blessed One said this, he greeted all of them, saying"Peace be with you [cf. John 14:27]. Receive my peace for yourselves. Take heed lest

anyone lead you astray with the words, 'Lo, here!' or 'Lo, there!' [cf. Matt. 24:5, 23;Luke 17:21] for the Son of Man is within you [cf. Luke 17:21]. Follow him; those whoseek him will find him [cf. Matt. 7:7]. Go, therefore, and preach the Gospel of theKingdom [cf. Matt. 4:23; 9:15; Mark 16:15]. I have left no commandment but what Ihave commanded you, and I have given you no law, as the lawgiver did, lest you bebound by it."

They grieved and mourned greatly, saying, "How shall we go to the Gentiles and preachthe Gospel of the Kingdom of the Son of Man? If even he was not spared, how shall webe spared?"

Then Mary stood up and greeted all of them and said to her brethren, "Do not mourn orgrieve or be irresolute, for his grace will be with you all and will defend you. Let usrather praise his greatness, for he prepared us and made us into men." When Mary saidthis, their hearts changed for the better, and they began to discuss the words of the[Savior].

Peter said to Mary, "Sister, we know that the Savior loved you more than other women[cf. John 11:5, Luke 10:38-42]. Tell us the words of the Savior which you have in mindsince you know them; and we do not, nor have we heard of them."

Mary answered and said, "What is hidden from you I will impart to you." And shebegan to say the following words to them. "I," she said, "I saw the Lord in a vision and Isaid to him, 'Lord, I saw you today in a vision.' He answered and said to me, 'Blessedare you, since you did not waver at the sight of me. For where the mind is, there is yourcountenance' [cf. Matt. 6:21]. I said to him, 'Lord, the mind which sees the vision, doesit see it through the soul or through the spirit?' The Savior answered and said, 'It seesneither through the soul nor through the spirit, but the mind, which is between the two, which sees the vision, and it is...'"

"...and Desire said, 'I did not see you descend; but now I see you rising. Why do youspeak falsely, when you belong to me?' The soul answered and said, 'I saw you, but you

did not see me or recognize me; I served you as a garment and you did not recognizeme.' After it had said this, it went joyfully and gladly away. Again it came to the third

power, Ignorance. This power questioned the soul: 'Whither are you going? You werebound in wickedness, you were bound indeed. Judge not' [cf. Matt. 7:1]. And the soulsaid, 'Why do you judge me, when I judged not? I was bound, though I did not bind. Iwas not recognized, but I recognized that all will go free, things both earthly andheavenly.' After the soul had left the third power behind, it rose upward, and saw the

fourth power, which had seven forms. The first form is darkness, the second desire, thethird ignorance, the fourth the arousing of death, the fifth is the kingdom of the flesh, the sixth is the wisdom of the folly of the flesh, the seventh is wrathful wisdom. Theseare the seven participants in wrath. They ask the soul, 'Whence do you come, killer of men, or where are you going, conqueror of space?' The soul answered and said, 'Whatseizes me is killed; what turns me about is overcome; my desire has come to an end andignorance is dead. In a world I was saved from a world, and in a "type," from a higher"type" and from the fetter of the impotence of knowledge, the existence of which istemporal. From this time I will reach rest in the time of the moment of the Aeon insilence.'"

When Mary had said this, she was silent, since the Savior had spoken thus far with her.But Andrew answered and said to the brethren, 'Say what you think concerning whatshe said. For I do not believe that the Savior said this. For certainly these teachings areof other ideas."

Peter also opposed her in regard to these matters and asked them about the Savior. "Didhe then speak secretly with a woman [cf. John 4:27], in preference to us, and notopenly? Are we to turn back and all listen to her? Did he prefer her to us?" Then Marygrieved and said to Peter, "My brother Peter, what do you think? Do you think that Ithought this up myself in my heart or that I am lying concerning the Savior?"

Levi answered and said to Peter, "Peter, you are always irate. Now I see that you arecontending against the woman like the adversaries. But if the Savior made her worthy, who are you to reject her? Surely the Savior knew her very well [cf. Luke 10:38- 42].For this reason he loved her more than us [cf. John 11:5]. And we should rather beashamed and put on the Perfect Man, to form us [?] as he commanded us, and proclaimthe gospel, without publishing a further commandment or a further law than the onewhich the Savior spoke." When Levi had said this, they began to go out in order toproclaim him and preach him.
