REGULARES (D, ED ou IED) ou IRREGULARES (formação própria segundo lista, por ex. to see, saw) I played ball yesterday.(Eu

(Ela foi à escola semana passada)

PASSADO CONTÍNUO é formado pela junção do verbo

TO BE (WAS/WERE) com um outro verbo no gerúndio (ING)

I was playing basketball. (Eu estava jogando basquete)

They were playing soccer. (Eles estavam jogando futebol)

PASSADO SIMPLESGERALMENTE REFERE-SE A:

Ações concluídas I lived in London until I was fourteen. (Eu morei em Londres

quando tinha 14.) He walked into the bar and ordered a vodka and tonic. (Ele

entrou no bar e pediu vodca e água tônica)

Hábitos passados When I was a child we always went to the park on Sundays.

(Quando eu era criança, nós sempre íamos ao parque aos domingos)

Estados passados In those days I didn’t like reading. (Naqueles dias eu não

gostava de ler)

PASSADO CONTÍNUOÉ GERALMENTE UTILIZADO PARA DESCREVER:

Ações em andamento (freqüentemente interrompidas por outros acontecimentos) I was drinking my coffee at 8 AM this morning. (Eu estava bebendo

meu café às 8 horas essa manhã) While I was opening the letter, the phone rang. (Enquanto eu
