Encerrado o turbilhão de 2017, bate à porta um grande desafio. Este novo exercício encerra o ciclo 2014-2018 do planejamento estratégico da Agrária, conhecido pelo acrônimo SER (Sustentabilidade, Ebitda e Rentabilidade). As três ousadas metas, estabelecidas cinco anos atrás, almejam zero acidente de trabalho com afastamento, Ebitda de R$ 350 milhões e aumento de 5% da rentabilidade dos cooperados acima da inflação até o final de 2018.O que ninguém podia prever na época eram a crise, o desequilíbrio, a incerteza e a recessão que se abateriam sobre o país nos anos seguintes. Com muito esforço, o agronegócio foi o único setor que conseguiu manter certa estabilidade nesse cenário. Historicamente, tem sido assim: o agronegócio é o último a entrar em crise, mas infelizmente também o último a sair.

Mit dem Ende der Turbulenzen des Jahres 2017, pocht nun eine große Herausforderung an die Tür. Dieses neue Geschäftsjahr beschließt den Zyklus 2014-2018 der strategischen Planung der Agrária, bekannt als das Akronym SER (Nachhaltigkeit, Ebitda und Rentabilität). Die drei ehrgeizigen Ziele, festgelegt vor fünf Jahren, zielen auf null Arbeitsunfälle mit Ausfallzeit, Ebitda von R$ 350 Millionen und eine 5%-ige Steigerung der Rentabilität der Mitglieder, über die Inflation, bis Ende 2018, ab.

Was damals niemand vorhersehen konnte, waren die Krise, das Ungleichgewicht, die Unsicherheit und die Rezession, die das Land in den kommenden Jahren treffen würden. Mit großer Anstrengung blieb der Agrarsektor der einzige Bereich, der in diesem Szenario einigermaßen Stabilität bewahren konnte. Historisch gesehen, verhält es sich so: Das Agribusiness kommt als Letztes in Krise, geht aber leider auch als Letztes.

Trotz des wirtschaftlichen Szenarios wurden die SER-Ziele von der Agrária beibehalten, obwohl sie zunehmend schwieriger zu erreichen schienen. Ungeachtet der momentan recht gewagt erscheinenden drei Zielvorgaben, scheinen Ebitda und Rentabilität der Mitglieder am kurzlebigsten zu sein. Dies liegt daran, dass es zwar möglich ist, direkter auf das Null-Unfall-Ziel einzuwirken (z. B. durch Verhaltensänderungen), das Ergebnis der Geschäftsbereiche und die Erhöhung der Bruttomarge der Hauptkulturen Sojabohnen, Mais, Weizen und Gerste dagegen weitgehend von externen Faktoren abhängen. Die Landwirtschaft ist schließlich eine offene Industrie, die empfindlich, nicht nur auf den Markt, sondern auch auf das Klima, auf Krankheiten und auf andere Umweltfaktoren reagiert.

In gemeinsamer Anstrengung versuchen Mitglieder, Forschung, Technische Assistenz, Vermarktung und Industrie die Grenzen der Variablen, also Preis, Produktionskosten, Produktivität und Qualität zu überwinden. Die letzten beiden Faktoren, Produktivität und Qualität, zeigen sich

in der Agrária-Produktion sehr dominant, so dass die Mitglieder in den letzten Jahren Produktivitätsgewinne bei den Sommer- und Winterernten erzielten und die von Agrária-Kunden so geschätzte Qualität beibehielt. So überrascht es nicht, dass Agrária stolz darauf ist, eine Referenz für andere Genossenschaften und Agrarindustrien des Landes zu sein.

Mittlerweile verharren die Agrarpreise auf enttäuschendem Niveau während die Produktionskosten weiterhin hoch sind. Und dies sind die Variablen, die das Ziel, die Profitabilität zu erhöhen, zu einem Ziel machen, das noch immer in weiter Ferne liegt.

Dennoch ist es nicht unerreichbar.

Zur Steigerung der Rentabilität wurden und werden verschiedene Maßnahmen ergriffen: Investitionen in die Diversifizierung, das Synergie-Programm bei der technischen Assistenz, neue Geschäftsfelder, technische Mitglieder-Reisen und vieles andere mehr. Neben Willenskraft und Mitglieder- Know-how können solche Initiativen den Hektar-Ertrag erhöhen. Letzten Endes ist die Einkommenssteigerung der Produzenten, ohne die üblicherweise notwendige Vergrößerung der Fläche, eine Frage der Nachhaltigkeit.

Dies ist für Agrária, ein Thema von entscheidender Bedeutung. Genossenschaft und Mitglied stehen in gegenseitiger Abhängigkeit – geht es einem gut, geht es dem anderen ebenfalls gut.

Schwierig zu wissen, was uns 2018 erwartet – ein Jahr der Wahlen, ein Jahr La Niña, ein Jahr der Reformen in der Regierung. Ein entscheidendes Jahr auch für die Erreichung der Agrária-Ziele. Deshalb begeben wir uns, im Geiste der Pioniere, mit unerschütterlichem Glauben, in dieses Meer der Herausforderungen.

Não obstante o cenário econômico, os objetivos do SER foram mantidos pela Agrária, embora parecessem cada vez mais difíceis de atingir. Apesar de as três metas serem bastante arrojadas para o momento, o Ebitda e a rentabilidade do cooperado aparentam ser as mais fugazes. Isso porque, enquanto é possível intervir mais diretamente sobre a meta de zero acidente (por meio de mudanças comportamentais, por exemplo), o resultado das unidades de negócio e o aumento da margem bruta das principais culturas – soja, milho, trigo e cevada – dependem, em grande parte, de fatores externos. A agricultura, afinal, é uma indústria a céu aberto, suscetível não só ao mercado, mas também ao clima, à pressão de doenças e outros fatores ambientais.O empenho conjunto entre cooperado, pesquisa, assistência técnica, comercial e indústria procura

The turmoil of 2017 has come to an end, and a great challenge is awaiting us. This new year concludes the 2014-2018 cycle of Agrária’s strategic planning, known by the acronym SER (Sustainability, Ebitda and Return). The three bold targets established five years ago aim at zero accidents at work resulting in leave, Ebitda of R$ 350 million, and a 5% increase in cooperative members’ return, above inflation, by the end of 2018.

What no-one could foresee at the time were the crisis, imbalance, uncertainty and recession that would afflict the country during the following years. With a great deal of effort, agribusiness was the only sector that managed to maintain a certain stability in this scenario. Historically, it has been like this: agribusiness is the last sector to enter a crisis, but unfortunately also the last one to come out.

Notwithstanding the economic scenario, the objectives of the SER have been maintained by Agrária, even though they seemed increasingly difficult to achieve. Although all three targets are very ambitious for the moment, the Ebitda and the return to the cooperative members seem to be the furthest from our reach. This is because, while it is possible to intervene more directly in respect of the zero accident target (by means of behavioral changes, for example), the income of the business units and an increase in the gross margin of the main crops – soybeans, corn, wheat and barley – depend to a large extent on external factors. Agriculture, after all, is an open-air industry, susceptible not only to the market, but also to the weather, pressure exerted by diseases and other environmental factors.

The joint effort involving cooperative members, research, technical assistance, the commercial area and industrial plants seeks to overcome the limitations of the variables: price, production cost,

Não à toa, a Agrária tem orgulho em ser referência de modelo produtivo para outras cooperativas e agroindústrias do país.Entretanto, os preços agrícolas têm decepcionado, enquanto os custos de produção continuam vultosos. E são essas as variáveis que tornam a meta de aumento da rentabilidade um alvo persistentemente distante.Ela não é, contudo, inalcançável.Várias medidas foram – e continuam sendo – adotadas

no esforço de fazer crescer a rentabilidade: investimentos em diversificação, Sinergia da Assistência Técnica, desenvolvimento de novos negócios, viagens técnicas dos cooperados, entre muitos outros. Somados à força de vontade e ao know-how dos cooperados, iniciativas como essas podem alavancar o rendimento por hectare. Afinal, aumentar a renda dos produtores sem necessariamente aumentar a área é questão de sustentabilidade.Esse é um ponto crucial para a Agrária. Cooperativa e cooperado são interdependentes; quando um vai bem, o outro também vai bem.Difícil saber o que nos aguarda em 2018 – ano de eleição, ano de La Niña, ano de reformas no governo. Ano decisivo, também, para o atingimento de metas na Agrária. É, portanto, no espírito de desbravadores, com muita fé, que mergulhamos nesse mar de desafios.

The latter two, productivity and quality, are very well mastered by Agrária’s production system; so much so that our members have beaten successive productivity records for the summer and winter crops in the last few years, while preserving the quality which is so well respected by the Cooperative’s customers. It is not for nothing that Agrária is proud to be a benchmark as a production model for other cooperatives and agro-industries in the country.

However, agricultural prices have been disappointing, while production costs remain very high. And these are the variables that make the target for increased profitability a persistently distant goal.

But it is not unattainable.Several measures have been – and continue to be – taken in the effort to increase profitability: investments in diversification, Synergy Program in Technical Assistance, development of new businesses, technical trips made by cooperative members, and many others. Added to our members’ will power and know-how, initiatives such as these may boost the yield per hectare. After all, increasing producers’ income without necessarily increasing the area cultivated is a matter of sustainability.

This is a crucial issue for Agrária. The Cooperative and its members are interdependent; when one is doing well, the other also does well.

It is difficult to know what is in store for us in 2018 – an election year, a La Niña year, a year of reforms in the government. A decisive year, also, for Agrária in reaching its targets. It is therefore in the spirit of pioneers, with a great deal of faith, that we dive into this sea of challenges.

By means of the vertical integration of the barley produced by cooperative members, Agrária Malt currently supplies 25% of the pilsner malt consumed in Brazil, besides having commercial partners for special malts and extracts, hops and yeasts.

Ações ambientais junto à comunidadeEm 2017, a Cooperativa manteve parceria com a Cooperativa de Operadores Ecológicos de Guarapuava, prestando o apoio necessário à realização da coleta de resíduos recicláveis em Entre Rios, incluindo a doação de vale-alimentação aos operadores que atuam no projeto.

ANNUAL GENERAL SHAREHOLDERS MEETING

The 66th Annual General Shareholders Meeting, on March 11, 2017, elected the new Members of the Board of Directors and the Statutory Audit Committee. With regard to the Board of Directors, cooperative member Edmund Kreuscher Gumpl was elected Corporate Secretary, a post that had previously been occupied for 12 years by cooperative member Norbert Geier.

Viaduto na BR-277Em fevereiro de 2017, entrou em operação um grande investimento realizado pela Agrária, integralmente com recursos próprios: o viaduto de acesso à Unidade Guarapuava, na BR-277. O faturamento da Agrária encerrou o ano de 2017 com um total de R$ 2,846 bilhões, superando o ano de 2016 em 70 milhões (2,46%). Para o ano de 2018, mantém-se a perspectiva de crescimento orgânico no faturamento, com previsão de R$ 2,963 bilhões.

Apesar do contexto econômico não se demonstrar favorável, havendo estagnação econômica, crescimento de custos e dispêndios de produção e logística, os resultados obtidos em 2017 de-monstram a estabilidade da Cooperativa. Cabe ressaltar que em 2017 o investimento realizado, a exemplo dos últimos anos, continua impactando a independência financeira e de maneira planejada, a Cooperativa apresenta recuperação dos índices de liquidez.

It should be emphasized that in 2017 the investment made, as in the previous few years, continues to impact the financial independence ratio; however, the Cooperative’s liquidity ratios show a recovery.

SALESAgrária’s sales closed the year 2017 with a total of R$ 2.846 billion – R$ 70 million (2.46%) above the year 2016. For the year 2018, the prospect of sales growth is maintained, with a forecast of R$ 2.963 billion.

RESULTADO

Em 2017, o indicador atingiu R$ 270 milhões (R$ 269 milhões em 2016). O valor demonstra a manutenção do bom desempenho na agregação de valor dos produtos dos cooperados pelas indústrias, dos insumos e dos produtos agropecuários.

O EBITDA representa resultado das operações, sendo composto pelas so-bras e/ou lucro operacional antes da de-preciação, do resultado financeiro e dos tributos sobre resultados (IRPJ/CSLL).

O resultado contábil em 2017 apresen-tou redução de R$ 3 milhões (-2,60%) em relação a 2016. A redução se deve ao crescimento das despesas financei-ras e da depreciação dos investimen-tos realizados.

The EBITDA represents the result of operations; it is composed of the surplus and/or operating profit before depreciation, financial result, and taxes on results (Income Tax / Social Contribution).

RESULTSThe accounting result for 2017 shows a reduction of R$ 3 million (-2.60%) in relation to 2016. The reduction is justified by the increase in financial expenses and depreciation on the investments made.

O indicador mede a capacidade da Coo-perativa em suportar suas atividades com capital próprio. A redução do índice de in-dependência em 2017, em relação a 2016, deve-se, essencialmente, à conclusão de in-vestimentos iniciados em anos anteriores. A Agrária, em 2017, apresentou o índice de 35,36% de independência financeira (35,96% em 2016).

TERMÔMETRO DE KANITZO Termômetro de Kanitz mede o risco de insolvência da Cooperativa quando esta se aproxima do nível de atenção (área amare-la) ou de insolvência (área vermelha). Este indicador é comumente utilizado pelas coo-perativas de produção agropecuária, como parâmetro de comparabilidade da situação econômico-financeira.

O indicador apresentou melhora em relação ao ano de 2016, demonstrando que a Co-operativa mantém solidez dentro dos níveis normais de solvência, baseado no planeja-mento de longo prazo e na consolidação dos investimentos realizados.

KANITZ THERMOMETERThe Kanitz Thermometer measures the risk of insolvency of the Cooperative when it gets close to the alert level (yellow area) or insolvency (red area). This indicator is commonly used by agricultural production cooperatives as a parameter for comparing their economic and financial situation. The indicator shows an improvement in relation to the year 2016, making it clear that the Cooperative remains sound, within normal solvency levels, and with a projection for improvement as the productive capacity of the investments effected is consolidated.

FINANCIAL INDEPENDENCE AND DEPENDENCEThis indicator measures the Cooperative’s ability to support its activities using its own capital. The reduction in the independence ratio in 2017, in relation to 2016, is basically due to the continued investments. In 2017, Agrária presented a financial independence ratio of 35.36% (35.96% in 2016).
