Usamos para ações que ocorrem de forma contínua dentro do tempo passado.

PORTUGUÊS: EU ESTAVA DANÇANDO.

INGLÊS: I WAS DANCING. (Afirmativa)

Para identificar e escrever ações nesse tempo usamos o verbo to be no passado (was/were) adicionado a um verbo acrescido de {-ING}.

They NOT were studying. (Negativa)

Were they studying? (Interogativa)

“O Passado Contínuo, basicamente, descreve uma ação que estavaocorrendo em um certo período no passado.”

Fred was dancing with his girlfriend.
