Introducion & Welcome

Dear friends,

The global Covid-19 pandemic led to several trans-formations in all sectors of activity and the safe return of motorsports is not indifferent to those changes. The Baja Portalegre 500 forced us to im-plement a series of preventive measures from the limitation of the number of people in several areas of the event, to the cancelation of the ceremonial start and the prise giving.Despite all this, the competition remains the Baja Portalegre 500’s trademark, which this year makes its comeback to the FIM Baja World Cup. A won bet which allows us to welcome the world’s best baja riders. To these, and as usual, we add the FIA Cross

Country Bajas World Cup, as well as the national off-road championships for autos and bikes from FPAK and FMP, respectively. In any case, the Automóvel Club de Portugal’s event will bring down the curtain on the season, therefore being decisive in the attribution of the titles.We would like to thank our sponsors for their support: BP Portugal, Municipality of Portale-gre and Municipality of Ponte de Sor – as well as for the collaboration of the Municipalities of Abrantes, Alter do Chão, Crato, Fronteira, Gavião, Monforte, Nisa, and Sousel, and the Commu-nity Councils of Cabeço de Vide, Chança, Comenda, Monte da Pedra and Tolosa. Service Park

Service Park for both Autos and Bikes is located by the Rally HQ, at Nerpor, in Portalegre’s Industrial Area.The Service Park is comprised by two main Service areas, one dedicated to Autos, right opposite to the Rally HQ main entrance, and another one dedicated to Bikes, closer to the main road.Competitors will have at their disposal electric sockets, as well as water to service their veihcles. In the same way, all competitors will have several recicling points along the Service Park so they are able to properly dispose of their residues.The refuelling area is located at the end of the Autos Service area, just before exiting the Paddock.The Service Park also has a food court, right at the end of the Bikes Service area, by the Paddock’s exit.

Fuel & Tyres

RefuellingCompetitors participating in Autos may opt to use the Refuelling area, adjacent to the Service Park, after TC2C, or by the crew, at any fuel station indicated in the road book on the official route using only that station’s fuel.To allow both possibilities, the road book will include two different routes between TC2C and TC2D.Competitors participating in Bikes, Quads and SSV’s (non FIA class), may refuell at the designated refuelling areas along the SS route, and in the Service Park. Refuelling must be done with an eco-friendly mat under the vehicle. It is not allowed to service the vehicle, or change tyres at the refuelling areas along the route.

TyresCompetitors participating in Autos should see Art. 10 of the 2020 FIA Cross-Country Rally Sporting Regulations.

Import of Vehicles and Spare Parts

Competitors from the European Union do not need to make any special custom clearance for temporary import of cars and equipment for the purpose of participating in the 2020 Baja Portalegre 500.Vehicles from outside the European Union must show their ATA (Admission Temporaire/Temporary Admission) carnet, which normally is applied for at the Chamber of Commerce in the country of origin.

Drones

The operation of Drones/RPAS’s at the Baja requieres, in addition to a AAN (National Aeronautical Authority) authorisation, a registration with the Organisation (Appendix II).They must comply with the 1093/2016 ANAC (Portuguese Civil Aviation Authority) Rule. All SS’s of the Baja are performed under restricted airspace. Authorities will be watching for any unregistered Drone/RPAS (Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems) since they cannot operate by law in restricted airspaces.The operation of Drones also might requier TV rights authorisation from third parties, other than the event organiser.

Media

Media accreditation for Media is to be attributed to those willing to cover the event in media outlets. The requests must be registered online at http://bit.ly/MediaPortalegre, from August 7th until October 30th.Due to the Coronavirus global pandemic, Media Accreditation shall be reduced in comparison to previous years. At the same time, the Media Centre will have a reduced number of working places, and the spacing between them shall respect the social distance norms in place. Working places at the Media Centre must be reserved uppon first arrival at the room, and journalist should use the selected places until the end of the event.Journalists coming together to cover the event should inform the Press Officer of their intent to occupy joint places at the table.

Insurance

The entry fees include the civil liability insurance towards third parties, in accordance with the Portuguese law. The maximum indemnity per accident is limited to 48,560,000€ or 9,760,000€ in corporal or material damages, respectively, for Auto competitors. These amounts cover only third parties. Competitors and their vehicles are not covered by this insurance policy.
