Jocork est une enseigne portugaise, qui investit dans la qualité et dans le design, en utilisant le

liège dans sa production, un matériel écologique, innovant et sophistiqué.

The Cork:

The Mediterranean cork tree – the Quercus Suber – is indigenous to Portugal. 190 tons of cork

are cut in Portugal alone, every year, corresponding to about 50% of world production.

The cork tree is a noble and elegant tree with very special characteristics: it’s long-lived, it has

major insulating power, it regenerates very easily, and it’s extremely versatile to use. It’s a tree

that needs to be cared for and looked after for several decades, and it’s only after 25 – 30 years

of growth that its production phase starts. The production phase is when the trunk reaches a

70 cm circumference and the cork can start being collected every nine years without damaging

the tree, which has countless economic advantages.

Cork is an ecological material, of vegetable origin, extracted from the bark of cork trees, which

can be used as a raw material with an unusual resistance and longevity. This is so because when

it is extracted from the tree, the cork naturally regenerates itself – an environmental

regeneration process lasting about nine years. Above all, cork is a one hundred per cent natural

material; it’s elegant, versatile, recyclable and reusable, contributing towards a modern,

environmentally friendly, and non-polluting society. This is why it can be extracted again every

nine years with no environmental repercussions. The cork tree’s capacity to regenerate means

that, in total, bark can be extracted approximately 16 times throughout a tree’s lifetime without

causing any damage to nature. This cycle lasts over 150 years.

Cork Characteristics:

Cork products are ecological, biodegradable, waterproof and gas proof, water and fire resistant,

soft and comfortable to human touch, and UV-resistant. They last a lifetime with minimum

maintenance and are decorative. They don’t distort, swell, become stiff, or shrink. They are

light, easy to set up and handle. They are anti-static and do not cause allergies. They are

hygienic, they don’t absorb smells, nor do they harbour fungi. They don’t rot and are extremely

resistant to wear and tear. They are washable and excellent temperature, sound and vibration

insulators.

To clean:

To ensure that the product is kept in top condition, simply clean it with a damp cloth (a cotton

cloth is preferable), neutral soap and water. Then, let it dry in the shade.

A Cortiça:

Em Portugal perdura o sobreiro mediterrânico – Quercus Suber – sendo extraído todos os anos,

só em Portugal, cerca de 190 mil toneladas de cortiça, que correspondem a cerca de 50% da

produção mundial.

O sobreiro é uma árvore nobre, elegante e possuidora de características muito especiais como

a longevidade, um grande poder isolante, uma grande capacidade de regeneração e

versatilidade de utilização. O sobreiro tem que ser cuidado e tratado durante várias décadas.

Só ao fim dos primeiros 25 a 30 anos de vida é que o sobreiro entra em fase de produção. Nesta

altura, o tronco atinge uma circunferência de 70 cm e pode-se iniciar o ciclo de crescimento e

colheita da cortiça, de 9 em 9 anos, sem qualquer prejuízo para a árvore e com inúmeros

benefícios económicos.

A cortiça é o material ecológico, de origem vegetal, extraído da casca dos sobreiros, que pode

ser utilizada como uma matéria-prima de uma durabilidade e resistência invulgar, já que

quando extraída do sobreiro, a cortiça volta a regenerar-se naturalmente, um processo de

regeneração ambiental que dura cerca de nove anos. A cortiça é acima de tudo um material

cem por cento natural, elegante, versátil, reciclável e reutilizável, contribuindo para uma

sociedade moderna, amiga do meio ambiente e não poluente. Daí que, em cada nove anos,

esta possa ser extraída novamente da árvore sem repercussões ambientais. A capacidade de

regeneração do sobreiro faz com que na vida de cada sobreiro, no total, a casca de cortiça possa

ser extraída cerca de 16 vezes e sem qualquer prejuízo para a natureza. Este ciclo dura mais de

150 anos.

Características da Cortiça:

Os produtos em cortiça são ecológicos, biodegradáveis, impermeáveis a líquidos e a gases,

resistentes à água e ao fogo, são macios e confortáveis à sensibilidade humana e resistentes a

UV’s. Têm uma longa vida com manutenção mínima e são decorativos. São anti-distorção, não

dilatam, não empenam e não encolhem. São leves, de fácil instalação e manuseamento. Anti-

estáticos e anti-alérgicos. São higiénicos, não ganham cheiros ou fungos, são imputrescíveis e

apresentam grande resistência ao desgaste. São laváveis e são excelentes isolantes térmicos,

acústicos e vibráticos.

Limpeza:

Para que o produto fique sempre em condições, basta limpar com um pano húmido, de

preferência de algodão, água e sabão neutro. Depois deixe secar à sombra.

Le liège :

Au Portugal, où vit toujours le chêne-liège méditerranéen, - Quercus Suber –l’on extrait chaque

année plus ou moins 190 mille tonnes de liège, ce qui correspond à environ 50% de la

production mondiale.

Le chêne-liège est un arbre noble, élégant qui possède des caractéristiques très spéciales, telles

que la longévité, un grand pouvoir isolant ainsi qu’une énorme capacité de régénération et

versatilité d’utilisation. Le chêne-liège a besoin de soins pendant plusieures décénies.

Seulement à la fin de ses premières 25 années de vie il initie sa phase de production de liège.

A ce moment, le tronc atteint un diamètre de 70 cm et l’on peut démarrer le cycle de croissance

et d’extraction du liège, tous les 9 ans, sans aucun préjudice pour l’arbre mais avec

d’inombrables bénéfices économiques. Le liège est le matériel écologique, d’origine végétal,

extrait de l‘écorce des chênes-liège, qui peut être utilisé comme matière première très durable

et d’une énorme résistance, puisque une fois extrait du chêne, il se régénère naturellement de

nouveau dans un processus de régenération écologique qui dure environ 9 années. Le liège est

avant tout un matériel 100% naturel, élégant, versatil, récyclable et réutilisable, qui contribue

à une société moderne, respectueux de l’environnement et non poluant. Pour cette raison, tous

les neuf ans, il peut être extrait de nouveau de l’arbre sans repercussions pour l’environnement.

La capacité de régénération du chêne-liège fait que, dans la vie de chaque arbre, l’écorce de

liège peut être extraite au total environ 16 fois sans un quelconque préjudice pour la nature.

Ce cycle dure plus de 150 ans.

Caractéristiques du liège :

Les produits fait à base de liège, sont écologiques, biodégradables, imperméables aux liquides

et aux gazes, résistants à l’eau et au feu, sont doux et confortables à la sensibilité humaine et

résistants aux UV. Ils ont une longue durée de vie avec un minimum d’entretien et sont

décoratifs. Ils ne se déforment pas, sont légers et d’installation facile. Anti-statiques et anti-

allérgiques, ils sont higiéniques, ne prennent pas d’odeurs ou des champignons, ne pourrissent

pas et sont lavables. Enfin, ils sont d’excellents isolants thermiques, acoustiques et vibratiques.

Nettoyage :

Afin que le produit soit toujours impécable, il suffit de le nettoyer avec un chiffon propre,

humide, de préférence en coton, avec un peu d’eau et savon neutre (genre savon de

Marseille). Laissez sécher à l’ombre.
