    GROWTH IN HOTEL INDUSTRY IN

    INDIA The services sector showed a healthy growth of

    11.2 per cent in 2007 as compared to 9.8 per cent

    in 2006 benefiting from the availability of skilled

    labour.

    Trade, hotels, transport and communication

    continued to develop at an accelerated pace

    recording a growth

    of 13.0 per cent during 2007 asagainst 10.4 per cent in 2006.

    OCCUPANCY LEVELS

    Occupancy levels at hotels catering to business travelers

    have dropped.

    The major dip in the occupancy levels was seen in the IT

    hubs, Bangalore and Hyderabad.

    Also, new supply had come up in these regions, which

    further affected the occupancy levels.

    HOTEL TAJ Taj Hotel is one of the best and well known Hotel in the

    world.

    The company was incorporated in 1902 and it opened itsfirst hotel, the Taj Mahal Palace & Tower, Mumbai, in 1903.

    The company then undertook major expansion of The Mahal

    Palace & Tower, Mumbai by constructing an adjacent tower.

    The Company opens its first hotel, the "Taj Mahal Palace" in Mumbai, India.

    The Company opens its first five star deluxe beach resort, the "Fort Aguada BeachResort" in Goa.

    The Company begins business in metropolitan hotels by opening the five stardeluxe hotel, the "Taj Coramandel" in Chennai.

    1980

    The Company opens its first hotel outside India, the "Taj Sheba Hotel" in Sana'a,Yemen.

    1984

    The Company entered into a licence agreement to operate the "Taj West End" inBangalore, "Taj Connemara" in Chennai and the "Savoy" in Ooty.

    2000

    The Company establishes Taj GVK Hotels and Resorts Limited with the GVK groupto operate three hotels in Hyderabad.

    the "Rawal-Kot" in Jaisalmer and the "Usha Kiran Palace", Gwalior.The Company acquires an equity interest in "Regent Hotel" in Bandra,

    Mumbai which is later renamed as the "Taj Lands End".

    2003

    The Company relaunches its flag ship property as the "Taj Mahal Palace

    and Tower".

    2004The company opens its first Jiva Spa at the Usha Kiran Palace in Gwalior.

    The Company launches its first luxury serviced apartments, "Wellington

    Mews" in Mumbai.

    The Company opens its first economy hotel under the brand "Ginger" in

    Bangalore.

    2005

    The Company entered into a management contract to operate the "Taj

    Exotica" in Palm Island, Jumeirah, Dubai.

    The Company obtained the operating agreement for the "Umaid Bhawan

    Palace" in Jodhpur.

    The Company acquires the "W" hotel in Sydney, Australia which is laterrenamed as the "Blue Sydney".

    The Company commences operation of its first wildlife lodge at Mahua Kothi,

    The Company acquires the "Ritz-Carlton" in Boston, USA which is laterrenamed as the "Taj Boston".

    The Company commences operation of its second wildlife lodge at Baghvan,

    2008

    Taj Hotels Partner with Saraya Islands to Operate Taj Exotica Hotel in Ras AlKhaimah, United Arab Emirates.

    2010

    The Umaid Bhawan Palace, Jodhpur has been voted the Hotel Of The Year by theGallivanter's Guide Editor's Choice Awards.

    Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces announced the opening ofTaj Cape Town.
