Moreover, Faiveley’s compact C3 disc brake units are compatible with any disc mounting solution (axle, wheel or flange mounted) and give the best possible trade-off between service and parking brake units.Robust – compact – easy integration

SMART BRAKE CONTROLFaiveley deploys all its expertise to deliver smart control of the complete braking system up to the energy dissipation into the friction pairs at each bogie. Our unique “pneumatronic” controls the brake either at the level of each car (EPAC LITE) or each bogie (MATRIC). Passenger care being the absolute priority, the Safety brake is always operated in a purely pneumatic mode, without influence from software and electronics thus avoiding any risk of error. In 2006, Budapest city launched a new tender for 170 metro cars to equip two lines. Competition between builders was fierce. Despite evolving needs, few innovations had arrived in Metro braking systems over the last 10 years. Economical analyses suggested taking advantage ofthe technological advances that were now possible.Faiveley R&D teams developed an evolution of the successful EPAC system, the EPAC LITE, a major break-through allowing control of a complete metro car with just one unit. Development and validation was very fast, thanks to Faiveley commitment.Using redesigned electronics with the anti-slide portion modified and external installation of the two dump valves, the EPAC LITE system fulfils all its promise.Simplifying by 2 the brake control system has brought great advantages: easier installation, maintenance, and obvious cost benefits.
