    This is a non-placement programme.

    It allows students to do paid work.

    It can be booked with or without a languagecourse.

    The duration is anything up to 1 year.

    The enrolment should be done at least 12

    weeks prior to arrival in South A rica.Restrictions apply.

    Providing documents required or visa purposes.

    Assistance in fnding long-term accommodation romhostels to urnished apartments.

    Assistance in long-term car hire i required.

    Airport trans er service.

    24 hr emergency number.

    A complete in ormation package including a South A ri-can SIM card.

    A GHS student card which allows discounts at tourist at-

    tractions, restaurants, etc.

    Participation in the GHS Social Club ( ees apply).

    Work South A rica is a one year, working holiday programme, available to ull time tertiary students orrecent graduates only. The majority o Work South A rica applicants fnd work in the hospitality industry,either working in one o the many vibrant bars, restaurants and nightclubs in Cape Town, or within the

    lively backpacking industry within South A rica.

    The programme There is no better way to travel and work your way around SouthA rica then on the Work South A rica programme. One can samplethe real everyday South A rica whilst meeting the locals and earn-ing money at the same time. The choice o location is totally up toyou and you can choose rom the casual beach li e o Cape Town,the hustle and bustle o the busy Johannesburg or the laid back

    sur er city o Durban. Its also an opportunity or you to add to yourresume, to be totally independent, make new riends and visit someincredible places such as the Kruger Park, Table Mountain, RobbenIsland and vibrant South A rican townships.

    Most working opportunities exist within the hospitality/tourismindustry such as at bars/restaurants, hostels and backpackers, etc,so previous working experience would be use ul but is not alwaysrequired.

    The enrolment processYou are required to apply well in advance to allow su cient time

    or the visa application. Enrolment 12 weeks prior to arrival in SouthA rica is advisable.

    Applicants to the Work South A rica programme will not be apply-ing or a normal South A rican Work Visa, and will not be applying

    or a Study Visa either, but will be applying or a special Visa specif-cally or this programme, and Good Hope Studies will provide spe-cifc documentation to be sent to the Embassy, which will enablethe applicants to apply or, and be issued with, this special visa.

    A ter enrolment we send a confrmation o booking together witha letter o acceptance (LOA) or the language course as well as theWork South A rica programme.

    An administration ee is payable or participating in the pro-gramme. Please re er to the price list.

    Included in the placement

    After arrivalA ter a success ul Visa application you can travel to South A rica andstart with your English language course and/or look or paid work.

    The work placement o cer meets with you and assists you withuse ul in ormation or fnding paid work.

    You will have the exibility and reedom to fnd work or yoursel ,when and where you may choose, anywhere in South A rica.

    The most easily ound jobs are those such as waitrons, bar-attend-ants and backpackers jobs. Average earnings or these jobs arebetween EUR 1,00 and EUR 1,50 per hour (between ZAR10 andZAR14 per hour) - this excludes tips or commissions which can beearned in addition to that. In some instances, backpackers wouldo er accommodation instead o pay or work done.

    The cancellation ee or the Work South A rica programme is 25%until 14 days prior to arrival and 50% rom 13 days prior until arrival.For NO SHOWS ull charges apply!

    AccommodationYou may book your accommodation through Good Hope Studiesor the duration o the English course. Therea ter you need to or-ganise accommodation or yoursel . However we can certainly helpyou in fnding long-term accommodation rom hostels to urnishedapartments.

    Survey QuestionnairesYou may be requested to complete Survey Questionnaires to shareyour working experiences with other students.

    Age restriction: 18 - 25 yearsApplicants must be ull-time students or must have com-pleted a tertiary qualifcation within 6 months o the dateo application.A passport valid or no less than 30 days a ter the expiryo the intended stay (13 months).Payment o a nonre undable visa application ee o ZAR 425 (approximately 37/US$ 52 as o June 2009),payable to the Embassy processing the visa application.

    Radiology / medical Report.A vaccination certifcate i required by law.Proo o South A rican medical cover with a South A ricanmedical scheme.A nonre undable air ticket.Proo o fnancial means to maintain themselves.Police clearance.Documents supplied by Good Hope Studies.In certain countries, the Embassy asks or a re undabledeposit.

    You need to send the ollowing documents to Good HopeStudies (send scanned copies via email and post the origi-

    nals):An application orm at least 12 weeks be ore arrival.

    Signed and completed declaration orm.

    A copy o your passport.

    2 x colour passport size photographs.

    Proo o student University status (original copy and certi-fed translated copy).

    Copy o return ight ticket.

    Travel insurance / medical cover (original copy and certi-fed translated copy).

    Police clearance certifcate (original copy and certifedtranslated copy).

    You will receive rom Good Hope Studies:Letter o Acceptance (LOA) to programme.

    Letter o Declaration to be signed by the student andreturned to Good Hope Studies.

    A Cultural Exchange Programme Confrmation Letter.

    Visa Requirements The student needs to apply or an Exchange Permit or a maximumperiod o 12 months with an endorsement to participate in theSASTS Exchange programme at the South A rican Embassy in theirhome country.
