Com um povo conhecido pela sua boa disposição, simpatia e alegria, o Carnaval da Madeira só podia ser um dos melhores de Portugal e, quem sabe, até do Mundo.

O Carnaval da Madeira tem dois momentos altos: o Cortejo Alegórico (Sábado) – um momento de performance, organizado por grupos de foliões; e o Cortejo Trapalhão (Terça-Feira) – onde todos são convidados a participar.

Durante o mês do Carnaval, as animações que passam pelas ruas do Funchal chegam também aos hotéis contagiando os turistas com a folia madeirense.

With a population known for their good spirits, friendliness and joy, the Carnival of Madeira could only be one of the best carnivals in Portugal and, who knows, even in the whole world.

The Carnival of Madeira contains two highlights: the ‘Cortejo Alegórico’, the Allegoric Parade, on Saturday – a moment of performance organized by groups of revelers – and the ‘Cortejo Trapalhão’ – where everybody is invited to participate.

Quem visita a Madeira na Primavera conta que esta é uma celebração memorável.

Durante uma semana, o centro do Funchal converte-se num enorme jardim, onde o desfile de carros alegóricos perfuma o ar com odores primaveris, envolvendo numa atmosfera floral única todos os que por ali passeiam.

Ao longo da celebração, noutro ponto da cidade, o Muro da Esperança é erguido com flores pelas crianças locais, simbolizando a esperança de um Mundo melhor.

All those who have visited Madeira in Spring remember it as a memorable celebration.

For one week, the centre of Funchal becomes an enormous garden, with parade floats that perfume the air with the aromas of Spring, involving everybody walking the streets within a unique floral atmosphere.

During the celebration, elsewhere in town, the ‘Wall of Hope’ is raised with flowers by the local children, symbolising the hope of a better world.

FESTIVALDO ATLÂNTICOATLANTIC FESTIVAL

Todos os anos, durante o mês de Junho, a ilha da Madeira enche-se de luz e de cor com o Festival do Atlântico, um espectáculo que cruza fogo de artifício e música, sempre com o Atlântico como pano de fundo.

Dele fazem parte o Festival de Música da Madeira, o Concurso Internacional de Fogo de Artifício e a actuação de bandas filarmónicas no centro do Funchal.

Os espectáculos de fogo de artifício repetem-se todos os Sábados do mês, ao cair da noite, sendo parte de uma competição entre várias companhias de pirotecnia (nacionais e internacionais) que mostram o seu melhor trabalho para conquistarem a concepção do fogo de artifício na Passagem de Ano seguinte.

Every year in June, the island of Madeira fills with light and colour during the Atlantic Ocean Festival, a show that mixes fireworks and music, always with the Atlantic Ocean as background.

The International Firework Contest and the performances by philharmonic orchestras in the heart of Funchal are part of the Madeira Music Festival.

Fireworks are repeated each Saturday during the month of June, in the heat of the night, as part of a contest between different national and international pyrotechnic companies, which display their best work to vie for the following New Year’s firework design.

Festa do Vinho da Madeira

A Festa do Vinho da Madeira é uma festividade que acontece pela altura das vindimas e que tem como propósito evidenciar a importância do Vinho da Madeira. Este momento é celebrado de formas diferentes em dois pontos da ilha: no Estreito da Câmara de Lobos, a população recria as tradições vinícolas madeirenses como a apanha da uva, os cortejos dos vindimadores e a pisa da uva.

Já no centro do Funchal, a festa é celebrada através de espectáculos de luz, som e folclore alusivos ao vinho e às vindimas, com a gastronomia local sempre presente.

Se é apreciador de vinho, este é um momento a não perder.

Madeira Wine Festival

The Madeira Wine Festival is celebrated at the peak of the harvest season. Its aim is to reinforce the importance of the Madeira Wine. This moment is celebrated in different ways on two spots of the island: at the ‘Estreito da Câmara de Lobos’ people recreate the wine traditions of Madeira, such as the grape gathering, the processions of the gatherers and the grape stomp.

In the heart of Funchal, the event is celebrated with shows of light, sound and folklore that allude to wine and grape harvesting, with the local gastronomy always present.

O Fogo de Artifício é sem dúvida a principal atracção do Reveillon na Madeira, marcando presença nas páginas dos recordes do Guinness como o maior espectáculo pirotécnico do Mundo.

Exactamente à meia-noite, preenchendo todo o anfiteatro do Funchal, os vários postos de Fogo de Artifício dão o mote para um espectáculo cheio de luz e som que ilumina a cidade do Funchal durante vários minutos, à medida que navios de cruzeiro e milhares de turistas se juntam ao longo da Baía do Funchal para viver o espectáculo recheado de iguarias locais e brindes internacionais.

The Fireworks are without a doubt the main attraction of Madeira’s New Year festivities, present in the Guinness Book of Records as the largest pyrotechnic show in the world.

Exactly at midnight, filling the whole amphitheatre of Funchal, the differentfireworks posts set the tone to start a show full of light and sound, illuminating Funchal for several minutes, as cruise ships and thousands of tourists gather along the Bay of Funchal to experience this show, filled with local delicacies and international toasts.

O Centro de Congressos da Madeira e o Pestana Fórum são parte do edifício de reuniões e conferências junto do Pestana Casino Park. Estas instalações são, no seu conjunto, a maior estrutura hoteleira de conferências presente na ilha, localizando-se a breves minutos a pé da baixa do Funchal.

As salas de reunião do Centro de Congressos incluem um Auditório com uma capacidade máxima para 628 pessoas e uma Sala de Conferências que pode receber até 450 pessoas com um pé direito de 5,8 metros.

Já no Pestana Fórum, o salão de eventos com mezzanine pode receber até 800 pessoas em conferências e tem ainda 5 salas extra para pequenas reuniões.

No total, o complexo inclui mais de 20 salas de reuniões.

The Madeira Congress and Convention Centre and Pestana Forum are part of the meeting and conference building next to the Pestana Casino Park. These premises constitute the largest hotel complex devoted to conferences and meetings on Funchal, located a few minutes’ walk from downtown Funchal.

The meeting rooms of the Congress and Convention Centre include an Auditorium with a maximum capacity for 628 visitors and a Conference Room with capacity for another 450 guests, with a ceiling height of 5.8 metres.

In the Pestana Forum, the mezzanine ballroom can accommodate up to 800 people at conferences; it also has five extra rooms for small meetings.

In total, the complex is equipped with more than 20 meeting rooms.
