Introduction/WelcomeWelcome to the latest edition of the Travian newsletter brought to you bythe Travian .com team. Continuing our ongoing trend of writing about

holidays and festivals, we have decided to keep the content casual for a

few more issues; you will be able to read about some funny and out of

this world events which are annually observed but little known about. The

country for this month is the Germany, specifically important because it is

home to Travian GmBH :) As in recent issues, we are moving forward

with Bandgeek's guide for new players; the topic for this month are

troops. As always, there is also a contest and some riddles/games for you

to enjoy. Let us know what you think, and what you would like to see in

future editions of the magazine.

Untitled until now

Story continued from the last edition of the magazine:

Eldain could barely hold his laughter when he saw the senators face as the

legionnaires explained that he was not a prisoner but a guest. The man was

lost for words, and that was saying something for a man who made a living out

of speaking to others. Rumor had it they were so good in talking they could

persuade anyone to join their cause. He still had his hands near his swords,

ready to strike when it was needed. But so far everything was still normal, no

signs of hidden agendas.

Although, this was not the unusual for these tribes; backstabbing an ally

seemed to be a second nature. His eyes glared around the village; it was

obvious they were holding to Natarian ideals. Meaning the rich had everything,

and the poor had next to nothing. That explained a lot about how easily he had

defeated the legionnaires. They were mere conscripts! Cheaply produced

soldiers of the lowest ranks. That was something he needed to change. An

army of forced soldiers was no good army and often ill-equipped.

Greetings from a small village located deep in the South -West. First time on a

Travian Version 4 server can be a little daunting, especially if youve only ever

played Version 2.5 of Travian. However the fundamentals are the same and

the interface is extremely intuitive.

So whats happening on this server? Plenty, with over 20,000 accounts there

has got to be a lot of position jockeying. With around 150000 casualties per

day, more than 1 million hapless little digital souls have made their way to

Travian Valhalla, but thats what you get when you relinquish free will.

For me, Beginners Protection ran out some 20 hours ago. Still waiting for that

first attack, theyll get nothing, but what of these animals Ive befriended? I

guess Ill find out soon enough! As a Gaul you tend to sit and wait, but for

what? Theres a myriad of villages with 2-4 population around. Why wait for an

attack? Time to go on the offensive; somewhat hesitantly, the first attack wields

a full swag of res.... Is there a difference between versions 2.5 and 4? The

answer is not really. People, with all their human frailties, still exist behind the

veil of every village! Save for the Natars? What the heck are they doing here?

Alls well at the moment. Still looking for an Alliance that will accept me, but

theres no rush, just the possibility of more treats from the task master.Anticipation is my friend on this server.

Our sever 7 is full of excitement, people are sining up day by day but they have

shocking news and that is every powerful player has a v illage nearly in all parts

of the map! Where ever they build their village there will be one or more

powerful players there. So be aware!

But as you know our sever is getting old day by day and the Natars are also

growing day by day becoming more powerful. Alliances are busy fighting each

other but they are forgetting that at their back the Natars are growing. ONCE

OUR SEVER IS 1 year old the Natars will attack everybody. I think everybody

is forgetting that WITHOUT HELPING EACH OTHER, WITHOUT BEING

UNITED THEY CANNOT BEAT THE NATARS. I am warning everybody that

stop attacking each other and attack the Natars. Now it's your wish.....

But in our sever every strong player is attacking the weak player and are not

understanding the threat. Everybody is busy fighting each other. Even Ii have

faced this along with my friends we were new to this server and everybody was

attacking us, WE WERE HELPLESS!!!!!!!

Then we joined a alliance, the members of the alliance sent troops for our

protection. Now we are settled in this game and our alliance will surely win the

SERVER!!!!

History

Germany before 1871

Germany has thus far existed in three iterations of the Reich (kingdom, empire). Officially, the first German Reich was

founded in 962 AD as the Holy Roman Empire. However, prior to the formation of the modern German state and the

Second Reich, the many German states were disunited. In the middle of the 19th century, Germany was not a unified

country but a collection of over 350 principalities and 1,000 small states. This fragmentation and the feudal nature of the

society led to frequent conflict and high levels of poverty.

German Unification

After Prussia's victory in the Franco-Prussian War 1870/71, Wilhelm I of Prussia was proclaimed

German Emperor on the 18th of January 1871 and thus the German Empire was founded. The

unification led to rapid industrialization of Germany. By the end of the 19th century, only one fifth of

the population of Germany was still working as peasants and the country's economic output rivaled

that of the United Kingdom.

World War I

At the beginning of the 20th century,

competition for colonies and markets led

to increased rivalry between the

European states. When in 1914 Serbian

nationalists murdered the Austro-

Hungarian Archduke Franz Ferdinand in

Sarajevo, Germany pledged full support

for Austria's invasion of Serbia and

Europe slid into war. When Germany

surrendered in November 1918, the

country was in revolutionary uproar, the

Kaiser was forced to abdicate and a

republic was declared.

The Weimar Republic and World War II

Political upheaval, reparations and the loss of territory led to economic

instability and hyperinflation in the early 1920s. In the 1932 Reichstag

elections, the National Socialist Party (*****) led by Adolf Hitler, gained the

largest share of the popular vote and at the beginning of 1933 Hitler was

appointed Chancellor. Within weeks of taking office Hitler turned Germany

into a dictatorship. Germany under Hitler set off World War II. It ended six

years later, in spring 1945, with Germany's capitulation.

Germany divided

The victorious British, French, American and Soviet allies divided Germany and

Berlin into four zones of occupation, each under the control of one ally. In 1949,

the three western zones were united to form the Federal Republic of Germany

(Bundesrepublik Deutschland) and the Soviet zone became the German

Democratic Republic (Deutsche Demokratische Republik). Over the next 40

years the two states would develop very differently. In 1961 the Berlin Wall was

built, dividing the city in two.

Reunification

By 1989, a growing number of East Germans were deeply dissatisfied with their lives in confinement. Taking advantage

of the changing political climate, demonstrators thronged the streets demanding political change. Finally, on November

the 9th 1989, the Berlin Wall fell. On October the 3, 1990, Germany was reunited. In 1991, public vote decided to move

the country's capital back to reunited Berlin.

Economy

Generally speaking, Germany has long since been recognized as an economic and industrial powerhouse. In the past century

and a half, Germany has more often than not been viewed as one of the worlds leading economies; even after the crushing

defeat of WW I, when the German economy was left in ruins, the members of the Entente eventually admitted that Europes

market was severely weakened without the economic and industrial prowess of Germany.

Today, Germany has a social market

economy, characterized with a highly

qualified labor force, a large capital stock a

low level of corruption and a high level of

innovation. For some time now, Germany

has been the largest and most powerful

national economy in Europe; it is the fourth

largest economy by GDP in the world and

the fifth largest by PPP as of 2009. Logically,

owing to its economic strength, Germany is

a founding member of the EU, the G8 andthe G20. During a relatively short period of

time, from 2003 until 2008, Germany was

the worlds largest exporter. As of 2009, it is

the second largest exporter of goods and

services. Most of the countrys exports are in

engineering, especially machinery,

automobiles, chemical goods and metal.

Additionally, Germany is the worlds leading

producer of wind turbines and solar power

technology. World renowned annual trade

fairs and congresses are held in many cities

all over Germany.

Germany is home to some of the worlds largest and most profitable

corporations, including Volkswagen AG, Daimler AG, Siemens AG,

BMW AG, Metro AG and other companies, such as Adidas, Audi,

Porsche and Nivea. In particular, Germany is famous for its specialized

small and medium enterprises. It is also home to one of the largest

financial entities in the world, the Deutsche Bank, which was founded

back in 1870. It is also the home of Travian GmBH.

Infrastructure

With its central position in Europe, Germany is a transport hub. This is reflected

in its dense and modern transport networks. The motorway (Autobahn) network

ranks as the third largest worldwide in length. The quality of the German

motorway has long since been praised and applauded around the world.

Germany has established a polycentric network of high-speed trains. The InterCityExpress or ICE network of the

Deutsche Bahn serves major German cities as well as destinations in neighboring countries. The largest German airports

are Frankfurt Airport (the third largest in Europe) and Munich Airport, both hubs ofLufthansa, the largest airline carrier by

passengers in Europe, while Air Berlin has hubs at Berlin Tegel and Dsseldorf. Other major airports include Berlin

Schnefeld,Hamburg,Cologne/Bonn and Leipzig/Halle. Both airports in Berlin will be consolidated at a site adjacent to

Berlin Schnefeld, which will become Berlin Brandenburg Airport in 2012.

Energy

As of 2008, Germany was the world's sixth largest consumer of energy, and 60% of

its primary energy was imported. Government policy promotes energy conservation

and renewable energy.Energy efficiency has been improving since the early 1970s;

the government aims to meet the country's electricity demands using only renewable

sources by 2050. In 2000, the government and the nuclear power industry agreed to

phase out all nuclear power plants by 2021. Germany is committed to the Kyoto

protocol and several other treaties promoting biodiversity, low emission standards,

recycling, and the use of renewable energy, and supports sustainable development

at a global level. The German government has initiated wide-ranging emission

reduction activities and the country's overall emissions are falling. Nevertheless, the

country's greenhouse gas emissions were the highest in the EU as of 2007.

Science and Technology

Germany's achievements in sciences

have been significant, and research and

development efforts form an integral part

of the economy. The Nobel Prize has

been awarded to 103 German laureates.

For most of the 20th century, German

laureates had more awards than those

of any other nation, especially in the

sciences (physics, chemistry, andphysiology or medicine).

The work of Albert Einstein and Max Planck

was crucial to the foundation of modern

physics, which Werner Heisenberg and Max

and Joseph von Fraunhofer. Wilhelm Conrad Rntgen discovered X-rays

and was the first winner of the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1901. Numerous

mathematicians were born in Germany, including Carl Friedrich Gauss,

David Hilbert, Bernhard Riemann, Gottfried Leibniz, Karl Weierstrass,

Hermann Weyl and Felix Klein. Research institutions in Germany include

the Max Planck Society, the Helmholtz Association and the Fraunhofer

Society. The Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize is granted to ten scientists and

academics every year. With a maximum of 2.5million per award it is one

of highest endowed research prizes in the world.

Germany has been the home of many famous inventors and engineers, such as

Johannes Gutenberg, credited with the invention ofmovable type printing in Europe;

Hans Geiger, the creator of the Geiger counter; and Konrad Zuse, who built the first

fully automatic digital computer. German inventors, engineers and industrialists such

as Count Ferdinand von Zeppelin,Otto Lilienthal, Gottlieb Daimler, Rudolf Diesel,

Hugo Junkers and Karl Benz helped shape modern automotive and air

transportation technology. Aerospace engineerWernher von Braun developed the

first space rocket and later on was a prominent member ofNASA and developed the

Saturn V Moon rocket, which paved the way for the success of the US Apollo

program. Heinrich Rudolf Hertz's work in the domain of electromagnetic radiation

was pivotal to the development of modern telecommunication.

Germany is also one of the leading countries in developing and using green technologies. Companies specializing in green

technology have an estimated turnover of 200 billion. Especially the expertise in engineering, science and research of Germany is

eminently respectable. The lead markets of Germany's green technology industry are power generation, sustainable mobility,

material efficiency, energy efficiency, waste management and recycling, sustainable water management.

CultureFrom its roots, culture in Germany has been shaped by major intellectual and popular currents in Europe, both

religious and secular. Historically Germany has been called Das Land der Dichter und Denker (the land of poets

and thinkers). The federated states are in charge of the cultural institutions. There are 240 subsidized theatres,

hundreds of symphonic orchestras, thousands of museums and over 25,000 libraries spread all over Germany.

These cultural opportunities are enjoyed by many: there are over 91 million German museum visits every year;

annually, 20 million go to theatres and operas; 3.6 million per year listen to the symphonic orchestras. The

UNESCO inscribed 33 properties in Germany on the World Heritage List.

of pigs or geese). There are literally thousands of types of cold cuts. Regional specialties, such as the Mnchner

Weiwurst popular in Bavaria, can also be found from all regions of the country.

Generally, with the exception of mustard for sausages, German dishes are rarely hot and spicy; the most popular

herbs are traditionally parsley, thyme, laurel, chives,black pepper (used in small amounts), juniper berries and

caraway. Cardamom, anise seed, and cinnamon are often used in sweet cakes or beverages associated with

Christmas time, and sometimes in the preparation of sausages, but are otherwise rare in German meals.

Mustard ("Senf") is a very common accompaniment to sausages and can vary in strength, the

most common version being "Mittelscharf" (lit. "medium hot"), which is somewhere between

traditional English and French mustards in strength. Dsseldorf and the surrounding area is

known for its particularly spicy mustard, which is used both as a table condiment and in local

dishes such as Senfrostbraten (roasted steak with mustard). In the southern parts of the

country, a sweet variety of mustard is made which is almost exclusively served with the

Bavarian speciality Weiwurst. German mustard is usually considerably less acidic than

American varieties.

A wide variety of cakes and tarts areserved throughout the country, most

commonly made with fresh fruit. Apples,

plums, strawberries, and cherries are

used regularly in cakes. Cheesecake is

Schwarzwlder Kirschtorte (Black Forest

cake) is another very well known cake,

made with cherries. German doughnuts

in a heap. The word Pfannkuchen can either mean German doughnuts (see

Berliner) or pancakes (see Eierkuchen), depending on the region.

A popular dessert in northern Germany is "Rote Grtze", red fruit pudding,

which is made with black and red currants, raspberries and sometimes

strawberries or cherries cooked in juice with corn starch as a thickener. It is

traditionally served with cream, but also is served with vanilla sauce, milk or

whipped cream. "Rhabarbergrtze" (rhubarb pudding) and "Grne

Grtze" (gooseberry fruit pudding) are variations of the "Rote Grtze". A

similar dish, Obstkaltschale, may also be found all around Germany.

Bread (Brot) is a significant part of German cuisine and is considered necessary for a

healthy diet. About 600 main types of breads and 1,200 different types of pastries and

rolls are produced in about 17,000 bakeries and another 10,000 in-shop bakeries.

Bread is served usually for breakfast and in the evening as sandwiches, but rarely as a side dish for the main

meal. The importance of bread in German cuisine is also illustrated by words such as Abendbrot (meaning

supper, literally Evening Bread) and Brotzeit (snack, literally Bread Time). In fact, one of the major complaintsof the German expatriates in many parts of the world is their inability to find acceptable local breads.

Regarding bread, German cuisine is more varied than that of either Eastern or Western Europe. Bread types range from white

wheat bread to grey (Graubrot) to black (Schwarzbrot), actually dark brown rye bread. Most breads contain both wheat and rye flour

(hence Mischbrot, mixed bread), and often wholemeal and whole seeds (such as linseed, sunflowerseed, or pumpkin seed) as

well. Darker, rye-dominated breads such as Vollkornbrot or Schwarzbrot are typical of German cuisine. Pumpernickel, a steamed,

sweet-tasting bread, is internationally well known, although not representative of German black bread as a whole. Most German

breads are made with sourdough. Whole grain is preferred for high fibre. Germans use almost all available types of grain for their

breads: wheat, rye, barley, spelt, oats, millet, corn and rice. Some breads are made with potato starch flour.

Bread rolls, known in Germany as Brtchen (a diminutive of "Brot"), Semmel, Schrippe, Rundstck or Weck / Weckle / Weckli,

depending on the region, are common in German cuisine. A typical serving is a roll cut in half, and spread with butter or

Educations purpose is to replace an empty mind with an open one.-Malcolm Forbes

Education its a funny word, isnt it? Its something that we cant hold in our hands, yet its themost valuable thing we can obtain. I mean, how is that possible? But I assure you, it very

much so. Education is something that we obtain in many ways. A formal education, which

is what most jobs require, is something that is earned over many years of hard work. And

its done differently all around the World. In the United States, we have elementary school,

middle school, high school, and college. In the UK there is primary, secondary, and

university. Education is done differently because the leaders have different ideas of what it

should be.

One thing that is for certain, no matter where you are in the World, your education is the

most valuable thing you can obtain. It unlocks doors for you. In the US, if you dont have the

minimal of a high school diploma or the equal there of, you can expect to make approx..

$444 USD a week and have 14.9% of your peers with the same level of education

unemployed. However, if you obtain a Doctoral agree (PhD) you can expect to make

$1,550 USD per week with only 1.9% of your peers out of work. I think these speak for

themselves.

With education, you can go anywhere you want. The higher your level of education, the

more doors it unlocks. In the US, its even hard to get a job at McDonalds without your high

school diploma. And that almost has to be one of the worst jobs out there. Education can

also make your dreams come true. Say you want to become a doctor. Doctors need a PhD

in medicine. All of the hospital administrators are PhD holders.

Now youre thinking, well, that's no fun!. Not true! Learning

new things, and how the world around you works should be

a fascinating and exciting experience. Getting an education

also teaches us to think out side of the box, and challenge

our minds. Thinking outside of the box, is in my opinion,one of the only ways to survive or have a chance at

surviving in the real world as our parents always

described it.

Education isnt just book smarts, either. Learning how to

survive on your own is also apart of that. hen I was eight

years of age, my father took me to an island on Friday. He

gave me a fishing pole, some rope, a knife, a hatchet, and a

few assorted supplies and told me to survive until Sunday,

when he would return. At first, I was very afraid. I had only a

limited knowledge of what to do. I knew that I first needed

fire and shelter. So I spent two hours trying to find wood

that was dry. I learned what wood would burn easily and

what wouldnt. I learned what made good fire starters.

When I got back to my camp, I had made a spear from a

branch that I had cut down and sharpened the end of.

There was a bear attempting to steal what supplies I had.

So I killed the bear, and I learned that my supplies 6 foot offthe ground werent at all safe. But during this weekend, I

learned how to make several items by hand and use them.

I learned how to fend for myself. Now will this help me in

the real world? Doubtful.

My story seg ways into my next point. I like to think that Education isnt just book smarts. Its also street smarts

or knowing how to handle yourself on your own. Because once we get out in the real world, we really are on

our own. The time we spend getting our book smarts is also a time to explore what we like and what we dont

like, and to discover ourselves. We may not realize it, but the choices we make in getting our education can

effect our entire future. For instance, had I of not joined the orchestra in middle school and started playing

double bass, I may of never discovered my love of music, which is what I plan to major on in college: music

education.

Even though weve graduated college and gotten our career going and what not, a very well respected man

told me once that we never stop learning, and I believe that with all of my heart and mind. All of our

experiences combine to make our education even stronger, and better.

saddens me greatly to see people taking it for granted.

In the US, hundreds of teens play hookie everyday

i.e.. faking sick to get out of going to school. There are

kids in 3rd World countries who would give anything to

be in school. Speaking of which, lets talk a bit about

the education efforts from the UN to African countries.

The UN is spending millions every year to help to

provide primary education to those without. But sadly,

the declining budgets from the countries putting up

this money, these education efforts are starting to

decrease. According to the UNESCO, in 2015 there

would still be 23 million children still out of school, if

trends continue.My final thoughts on education are just that if you can

get an education, do it, take advantage. If youre lucky

enough to get one, dont take it for granted. There are

plenty of people out there who would do anything to

be in class!

If youve ever taken a look at an

events calendar, you may have

noticed just how many different

holidays or observations are

celebrated each year. Some of them

are national and dont appear on

official calendars of other countries,

some are internationally accepted

(though sometimes with varying

dates); some are secular, while

others are religious in nature. In fact,

if you take a religious calendar,

pretty much every other day has

some observance or celebrates

some saint. Then, there are such

holidays which usually dont make it

on the official calendars, be they

secular or ecclesiastical. Much like

the International Talk Like a Pirate

Day weve discussed in the last

issue of the magazine, these are

funny (or fun, depending how youfeel about it) little holidays which few

people know about and even less

people celebrate. Still, they exist and


some of them are very interesting and

fun in fact, some might also be very

good to observe. Ill give you an

example:

Feel that? Feel the blind fury? The

pain, the pain! The anger! That, my

friends, is known as the fury. Weve

all been ticked off or angered by silly,

mundane things which happen as

regular events in our daily lives;

waiting in line, having a bad day at

work or school, having someone just

act rudely or inappropriately, hating

the traffic and the nervous drivers

which go along much like oil in a fire

during a traffic jam. Have you ever

been frustrated when playing Travian?

Of course you have. Youve been

and takes everything away; try to

reason with him and he will laugh at

your face just because he can. Of

course, hes probably just a cheater,

looks and comments especially if in

The Race for glory is on; the banners of the elite gamers are finally marching to the grey lands. The Natars WW's are

about to be built, once those pesky plans can be found. They are hidden well amongst the tribes, well protected, well

defended. Only the brave or foolhardy can retrieve them. Of the 13 glorious free -state villages of the Natars that hold

the key, 6 of them have been conquered by the tribes. Union will attempt to raise their flag alongside that of Light,

F.A.T and 3 SGR world wonders. SGR are playing it safe most likely using the age old plan of having a fake WW, a

real WW and a backup. As was seen this month, when you read the article on ts9, this is the perfect strategy. But

can they show that this strategy is without its flaws? Who now has the strength to win this last race? Time will tell.

However, the holders of the artefacts will have some say, as the alliance with the most will have some added benefits

that others covet. The holders of the artefacts are:

Light with 3 small and 0 large.

F.A.T with 18 small and 16 large.

SGR with 23 small and 10 large.

UNION with 6 small 8 large.

Rogue with 2 small 1 large.

What can be said about the haul above is that this server is far from over. Yet FAT has the upper hand considering

the artefact total and the fact they have some significant large idols of the ancients in their possession. The fact that

SGR control 3 WW points is also a factor. So the winners will come from these 2 factions most likely, unless Union

and Light start defecting some of F.A.T and SGR's members. Joining the winning side or the side with more

momentum can be promising. This indeed is a story of war. Based on the fact that it is not easy to gain a WW point,

the fact that SGR control 3 shows they either have lost all their hammers or have significant reserves for the final

push. Its members will be praying for the later.

The server's largest player is 'Uzelac'; this population king boasts an impressive population count of 33257. However,

his village count is less than the player in second position by an impressive ratio of 39 to 35. The second place player

is 'Tiberius'. His name indeed is already folklore on this server. He is still the top attacker and the top defender; an

impressive feet. The number one hero is that of a player called 'Maksim'; his hero is level 156, a daunting figure

in any battle. The largest v illage belongs to 'Spider Cat' called funnily and ironically enough 'Largest Village'.

This humor is testament to the challenges of the server. An enjoyable end-game race will follow.

The server is gearing up and reaching the end point. The grey area, while not yet overcrowded, is showing action, most notably around

the fringes as the alliances position their supply village and assassin squads at the edges, ready for action when called upon. The server

has 3 main powers in MDS, SW and US. While a winner is not guaranteed from the super powers it is more than likely assured, unless

some great god appears with his charismatic tongue and speaks his way around some members and their allegiances. The combined

might of all 3 is to be feared, considering their haul of artefacts listed, as is listed below.

Eternal Legion with 6 and 2 large.

MDS with 19 and 11 large.

SW with 14 and 9 large.

US with 10 and 10 large.

Oi with 2 and 2 large.

As time goes by, and the end game starts to pick up the pace, more alliances will falter away, merging into the supreme power that will

push forward and aim to win the endgame. Who will merge? Will the 3 stay separate or have the secret councils already begun? Who will

reign supreme and lead the unified quadrants to glory? At the moment MDS stands at the fore, but for how much longer? Will OI and EL

unite or will they lower their banners in favor of joining SW, US or even MDS. Will the powers consolidate? Time will tell. An epic end issure to follow.

The stand out population player is 'FelixRomul' with an amazing haul of 18838 in population, which is over 1.000 more than his nearest

rival 'Rei'. The player 'God' stands as the most accomplished attacker thus far while 'Hedonism' stands at the fore in the defensive

category. The hero who dominates and scares all comers is 'BigFatCoward' at level 193, while 'Kadut' has the biggest population village

of 1447 at 'Singgalang'. These are the names of those who stand at the fore on this server to date. Can they remain there until the

end remains to be seen.

A pot boiling over and ready to spurt its flames This, the recent new server of the great Travian world, is on the pinnacle. War is going

to break out. At times quietness instills this barbaric server. It is simply the calm before the storm, because for sure a storm approaches; I

am not yet sure from which quadrant it's heading from but it will be fierce and will shape the world as we know it on this plane. Not many

alliances are banding together just yet, but slowly little wings are appearing. The notable alliances of old have brought their rearguards in

and are sitting quietly, unbeknownst to many. Some alliances have already openly declared their allegiances with a platitude of Naps and

confederations on their boards. Is this too early or just good planning? Some old alliances are reappearing, but whether under old rulers

or not is yet to be seen. These are CWL, Devils and DA. But we all know this is the DA of old, with their great leaders returning. Can they

claim another server victory? That waits to be seen, considering they are now in the usual quad of SW. MrCatfish shows his face. This is

an old, elite gamer who can never be put down.

Throughout this battlefield great alliances are already marching to the fore, laying certain markers for others. Already a good number of

players have ventured into the perilous grey area, with WAC seemingly being the alliance that ventured the most. They even have a good

number of supply villages on the rim. Solid planning early on for a center field is maybe a good idea. Their strategy will be tested at a laterstage when all others march to the center for the great main event of WW Victory. The alliance on top of the leader board is

'RoyalChallangers'; a solid alliance by the looks of things, but sometimes an early leader can never hold the pace.

The current population blaster player is 'Makassar' with 6 villages and 2645 in population. 'mlin' stands as the best attacker at nearly

20,000 points. The number one defender is 'energy' but based on this he has been hit hard. But yet his mighty army and those of his

comrades stand defiant. The hero that is currently in the history books is 'SI Pitung' with a massive level 64. Indeed, he is not someone

you wish coming to your village gates.

Early days are still here on this server, but the deals must be going on behind the scenes. The councils are convening in the quads in

order to align their selves for either the artefact hunt or the unification of a quad. Most likely the former, as the latter is nearly always

last done unless everyone fears you :)

Atop the WW stands a sight to behold, the banner once again of DACIA appears on a winning World Wonder. Indeed its members, its

glorious leaders, numerous battle hardened players admire the sight. They have won in a style befitting a war game, by fighting to the

bitter end and standing atop the rubble of broken walls, fallen buildings and indeed the corpses of both the enemy and the brave and

mighty defenders. They fought until the bitter end, unified over one cause and won. Mighty congratulations are to be had for all involved.

Indeed the troops left alive can only be found in one place now, the great tavern.

The winning WW was named Dacia in honor of the alliance that won. The holder and key player was 'Magarus'. He held strong. They also

had 2 backups at near full level held by both 'Gravos' and 'Ardelenii'. The nearest challenge was the alliance Enola with a level 1 wonder

held by 'Black Fox'. All the WW villages were held and the rest were held by Dacia and only one by hellas. Indeed, Dacia grew so big that

no challenge could be mounted successfully by anyone unless EVERY last player in all alliances united against them. And even then the

betting would not be taken against Dacia.

The top alliances show a funny story in that Dacia had 8 alliances in the top 10. Enola and Hellas held 2 spots between them. It can be

seen that some serious battles were had considering Dacia were atop the leaders of both defensive tables and offensive tables. But the

details in the defensive one are of great concern. It seems that the mounted attacks by other alliances were impressive, but not

impressive enough to crumble the WW.

The number one largest player was a Dacia player by the name of 'Katrina' With 40917 population and 42 mighty villages. A player

called 'Exorcist' stood tall amongst the attackers while his counterpart 'Ardelenii' stood atop the great defenders. Indeed, most of the top

defenders are WW holders. The hero of legend was 'Exorcist's called 700NitroExpress.

Another server has ended and Dacia's name grows in legends now, winning again. So congrats to all Dacia players for their victoryand congrats to all those who took part in another epic sever. May ye battle again on another realm of Travian shortly.

Characters are made in an instant; a flash decision can mold you into something great or forever damn you and your team till the end. It is

in some cases a game of dice. Can you role a pair of 6's or are you going to flop? The hand that beats the dealers is a hard hand to beat.

The gods however offer a different tale; they do not favor those who show their cards, or indeed those who boast their counts. They favor

the brave, the worthy and those that are downright foolish and proud at times. Victory is not a given, rather it must be taken. In Travian the

Natars are always facing a losing battle. Their loss is the gain of all others around them-

Teutons, Romans and even Gauls alike. The tc6server is ripe, open and a battleground. It is a glory fest of pure power. It is Travian at its best.

While no alliance has the Troll factor, they all have some great points. Indeed, no hand is being laid bare; the table is not even in place for

the hands to be placed. The dealer is afraid to deal. The alliances hold their cards to themselves not even viewing them for fear of spying.

The alliance =815= stands tall amongst all others in the highest tower. It is rare that an alliance founded so late on in the game springs

the trap and reaches the heights that others cannot. They rose on week 19, their shadows are those that spread like eagles and sore to

great heights. But can they stand the test of time, or will they like all eagles be hunted to near extinction? The core of the alliance behind

them hold nearly half the numbers so they are indeed some powerful players that sit around simming or else they hold the powers of great

armies. Soon someone will have to make a key move and unite and form a meta. From which quadrant will this be played from first? As

always, once played it will spread like locusts.

The server is done to bare bones; only 1136 players are left standing. Indeed, this explains the barren wastes. The absence of players

shows that war ensued on such a great scale that even the gods abandoned the scene for fear of retribution. The Natars are either

fighting back against the populace or they were first exterminated in this battle of tribes. The top 2 players in the population count are from

the same alliance that ranks first; they are 'S-riVer' and 'Midask' respectfully. The great 'C&e' stand as the best attackers nearly double the

points ahead of their nearest challenger. In the defensive section 'BEsT' stands atop the mountains of the dead, defending his realm. The

top attackers hero stands at the pinnacle in the hero's table; at level 81 'missy' stands supreme. It is an endgame that few will see,

considering the numbers left. How many more will stand the test? Will they be joining the brave dead? A really intriguing end will

happen here. Just a question will anybody see the end :)

Success cannot be guaranteed by simply holding all the keys to a safe, but it does help. The same can be said for the artefacts. Simply

holding the larger number is not a guarantee that later on you will raise the WW first, but it does offer some benefits that your enemies do

not have. Already the key factors are being set. The great alliances are stepping forward: Wild, Red (colors) SWAT, LORDS and IP. For a

long time IP kept their selves in the lower portion, but talent cannot be suppressed and their rise was not unexpected. Another slumbering

dragon is that of the alliance C. Keep note of those 3 simmer type players. They will rise to torment the world in the coming weeks. Most

of the quads are in the final stages of unifying their areas. Indeed, SWAT unified its members early on. The other great SW alliances

lowered their own personal banners and raise that of their new collective brotherhood. *FF* is led by the great Aula and KOTW led asalways by Elysium. This is KOTW's 4th server under their new banner. At least they stood the test this time and have not simply died out

but merged instead. Battles over the artis have already begun. The current holders are:

Colors with 13 small and 8 large.

IP with 11 small and 4 large.

Wild with 15 small and 18 large.

LORDS with 2 small and 1 large.

SWAT with 9 small and 4 large.

C with 1 small and 0 large.

ST with 1 small and 0 large.

As can be seen, there are 2 dark horses in the race above with both C and ST holding some small idols of the ancients. How long before

they are captured by one of the other powerhouses? The alliance WILD holds the largest quantity in both small and large. An impressive

haul, and makes one worry about their army. The members of Colors hold a nice haul themselves and can be proud of their

achievements. Considering IP's member base, they nearly have 1 artefact per member - nearly. SWAT holds the most in SW and lords

hold a scant few. Time will tell which of these alliances still stands at the end, but to mount a serious challenge deals will be made. The

grey area is the next great warzone of this epic and wondrous tale. Indeed, WIlD had the bigger foot but an influx of SWAT settlings have

moved them into a nice position. Their influx was geared thanks to Elysium. While this server is far from over, there are not many

core alliances that can make a challenge outside the top 5 named above. Unless a great merger occurs, that is.

The endgame draws near; another epic story is about to be written into the annuals of history. But what name will be upon the winners

page? Who will lead a WW win and which alliance will back the winning dome of power? Only 2 of the mighty 13 Natarian villages are still

held by the Natars. The rest are in construction for WW victory. a+t.com holds 4 WW and 3 of them are above level 50. SAppleM hold

two and one of them is also above 50, while PsyCo hold 4 and S-T- Hold one. Indeed, the WWs are rising fast.

The battles will soon ensue and all the members of the alliances are more than likely engaged in sending troops and resources to their

designated key areas. Only 985 players remain on this fairytale server. With so little gaming elite left there is little chance of a major

upset. Thus the stage is set and a+t need all but bow out if they want to lose. However, an upset can still be done if the Apple does not rot

to the core. The number one player in regards population is Freelancer with 32 villages and a population count of 27026. A mighty score

indeed. Johnmc sits as the number one offensive flavor on this server, while his throne is definitely divided in 2 as he also sits as the

number one defender. Bar the Natars of course, who also got a beating. The hero of the age is so far Johnms's hero called 'fagin'. At level

139 Kenil holds the number one village with 'wraith' holding 1297 in population.

While this server is in its f inal stages, the last few yards will not be easily made. The curtains are ready for a close but as they say it is not

over till the Fat Lady sings. And this server could yet hold that epic twist, that final nail biter. Stay tuned to find out.

Heroes, of soldiers of fortune, bravery, honor and even cowardice and betrayal can be seen floating amongst the gaming elite, past and present.

Indeed, the hallowed halls of the dead on this epic server tell their own tale. They avidly watch the victors emerge. Even I avidly watch this server as it

sculpts a new way of gaming. Indeed, it still holds the active gaming elite in its grasp, none wanting to leave for fear of missing something. Only 5 of

the WW villages are occupied by the gaming tribes. 2 of them occupied by the Darwin and WAR meta called dWWARwin. The great alliance equals

hold 2 while DemoEns hold one. The wonders are nearly complete. The epic saga is nearly over.....unless more twists are about to occur.

In the great village WWar owned by the general Tacitcus is where a great tale was unfolded. Equals planned to take down the WW. They marched

their banners along with all their offensive might down south to the WW of Darwin and WAR. Countless troops are still lying dead on this battlefield,

fresh from victory. Equals marched after destroying the great dWARwin Dome to dust. They marched further to the great WW of Passive himself but

this is where the united front of WAR and DARWIN battered all comers. Their WW still stands. They stood together united as brothers against the

enemy. At level 80 this WW is definitely a prized possession considering their other one lays in waste.

The winner will come from ether the dWARwin or equals regimes. Demons dont have a say unless they muster the biggest force that Travian gamers

have ever seen. The top 10 alliances are dominated by these 2 core alliance metas. The end has come for one of the servers biggest players: Vinti.His place was succeeded by 'JoOoker' with a population count of nearly 37000 and 40 villages. The number one attacker thus far is 'Yadz', while it is

no surprise that both 'Tacitus' and 'PassiveClown' are atop the defenders list by a great distance. Yadz also holds the number one hero with level 192.

The largest village is held by a player called 'kn!ght' with 1400 in population.

This server, as was once foretold, was on the path to greatness. Indeed it is still on this path and never had it strayed. The powers that behold this

server are ever watchful. Can the dWARwin WW hold its course and remain intact or will equals launch their entire arsenal at this camp to force them

down a peg or 2? Can their mighty defensive line hold?

Welcome to the BigTop, the main event, the ultimate challenge to prove yourself as an epic gamer. The championship. While this is not a circus, some

serious class acts can be seen when entering the arena of this gaming world. The forum is awash with talk. Everything flows from epic tales to total

anarchy. This is what it is all about. Enjoyment, coupled with learning as everyone on this server is learning from everyone else.

The top 5 alliances have changed slightly. Hamsters still sit on their perch as the great achievers. ~ADB~ no longer sits in second but has slipped to

5th. Let us hope this roller ride has not run out on them. LisMA -MK has fallen to 7t, while -p-36m- and turk remain in 3rd and 2nd respectfully. In the

meantime, Ds-IB takes the place of lisma-mk in the top 5. The IB - DA connection is again cropping up and questions can arise if this is the old core or

a new alliance.

Pwent has been replaced as the number one largest player and now sits behind the scenes in second, while AEON now stands atop the mountain.

The attackers board again has changed its face with 'hakanugur' now the successor and supreme attacker. 'Sunset single' sits proudly on their walls,

casting their eyes over the death beneath them; they stand as the best defenders thus far. The heroes worth mentioning in 1st and 2nd are 'Mihailus'

and 'hakanugur'. Both of these towering giants are at the impressive level of 183, nearly 50 levels higher than the nearest challenger. When you checkthe number one village you find AEON which is no surprise considering they are also the largest player. But when you see that this player has 19 of

the top 20 villages, it gives you a shock and awe factor.

This server as always holds the supreme right of the elite. They gather to the banners and they hold no allegiance to anyone but their own. This is still

a server to behold, a beautiful realm. When will she erupt? When will chaos ensue?

Get to know:Bandgeeks Guide for Beginners: Troops

Welcome back! In this months guide, were going to give you a overview of thetroops, their advantages and disadvantages, and even some helpful advice!

So the first thing you need to know is that every tribe has its own kinds of troopsBUT they fall into the following categories:

Defensive

Offensive

Infantry

Scouts

Cavalry

Destruction

Administrators

Settlers

Each account also has a hero. Troops can be classified in certain groups fromabove. For instance, Roman scouts are scouts but also cavalry, whereas Gaul

and Teuton scouts are scouts and infantry. Also, important to note is that each

tribe has offensive troops, defensive troops, administrators, etc. They are just

named differently.

I. Romans

Romans have fairly well balanced troops, equally capable of offense and

defense. For Romans, the defensive infantry are the Praetorian. Both Cavalry

units for the Romans are good at defending, but overall, the Equites Caesaris

are the upgraded version of the Equites Imperatoris and can be used to pack

quite an offensive punch.So, Roman offensive troops are the Imperian, Equites Imperatoris, Equites

Caesaris, the Battering Ram, and Fire Catapults. For Romans, the Legionnaire

is the most basic troop type, being well rounded in offense and defense.Roman scouts are the Equites Legati, the final kind of cavalry for Romans.Roman destructive troops are of course the Battering Ram and Catapults. The

rams destroy walls and catapults destroy buildings. In order to complete certain

aspects of the game, catapults and rams are of the utmost importance. And

lastly but certainly not least, the Roman administrator is the Senator, who uses

his influence to conquer another players village from them. Most notably, the

Senator is the most efficient of all the Travian administrator units. Do not be

surprised if it takes one administrator less than is the standard for a Roman to

conquer a village.

II. Teutons

Teuton troops are highly offense based; generally weaker than their

counterparts from other tribes when it comes to their characteristics they make

up for their lack of fire power by being cheaper and quicker to produce. While

not entirely dangerous in small numbers, Teuton warlords are well aware of this

fact, so they will always attack as a horde, with a massive army of efficient if

cheaply produced units. Do not be surprised to see a vast number of Clubs

heading your way this is the ultimate edge of the hammer; the Teutons will

break through your defenses using the power of sheer numbers. That being

said, having only two kinds of cavalry, the Teuton armies are almost always

infantry based. Even the Teuton basic infantry is well equipped to raid. Teuton

defensive troops are the Spearmen, which are equipped to handle cavalry with

ease, and the Paladin which quickly does away with infantry. Even though the

Teutons are offensive by nature, when combined these two troops can make a

very fearsome defense.The Axeman and the Teutonic Knight are the Teutons best offensive weapons.

Both are very skilled in attack and will quickly tear through any army.Teuton scouts are infantry and thus move slower than Roman scouts. Teutondestructive units are the Ram and the Catapult.The Teuton administrator is so named the Chief.

III. GaulsGaul troops are more defensive based and their offensive troops are far more

expensive than any other tribes. The basic Gaul troop, the Phalanx, is an

excellent defender and is usually the base of Gaul armies. They are decent at

offensive measures, however if meet by enough defense they will surely fall.

Like the Teutons, the Gauls have a defensive cavalry and an offensive cavalry.

Their defensive cavalry is the Druidrider. The Theutates Thunder is more skilled

at raiding and attacking. However, their defensive capabilities are limited. And

of course the Gaulic heavy cavalry, the Haeduan, is a well rounded unit useful

for both offense and defense. However, be forewarned: its costs to train and

maintain are higher than most other units. Great power means great costs. Do

not underestimate an offensive Gaul; just because the tribe is peaceful at heart

does not mean that its warlords wont crush your army with ease if they wanted

to. In fact, a well played Gaul (much like a Roman) can be quite formidable in

both offense and defense.

IV. Nature TroopsIn Travian, to defend oases, we have Nature troops. They cannot attack, only

defend. However, they can be captured. Nature troops are currently simply in

order of defensive strength. For an overview of their defensive capabilities,

check this out:

view=answers&action=answer&aid=109#go2answerIf youll notice, it is listed that they have an offensive value. This is because thatif Travian Games decides to make it so that animals can attack, it is already in

place. However, this is currently still on the drawing board so to speak.

V. Natar Troops

Aha the server troops. Looking for their attack values? Defense values? How

about how many are in each village? Well Im terribly sorry, but this is allhidden. The troop numbers tend to be random, depending on how often they

have been attacked, etc.

VI. Anvils and HammersIn Travian, you will often hear the terms anvil and hammer. So lets explain

what these are, and how to make one.

VI.1 AnvilsNow, Im sure that many of you are thinking about this kind of anvil:But in Travian speak, an anvil is a massive wall of defensive

troops, basically. Usually, you want a good mix of infantry and cavalry for your

anvil. Most anvils are upwards of 25,000 troops. Its not advised or practical for

new-comers to attempt to make anvils. With anvil building, you also need to

know how to tell a fake from a real attack. It can be tricky, and takes

experience. You have to know when to defend, or to send the anvil away as to

not alert the enemy how many troops you have. Anvils are always used for

defensive purposes, especially when an alliance member is in trouble. Do not

think that a defensive player with an anvil will not have any offensive troops;

though their number will not be as great as that of the defensive troops, they

may and probably will still be there.

VI.2 HammersHammers are the other end of the spectrum from anvils. Hammers are

basically a horde of offensive troops. Like anvils, hammers should have a good

mix of offensive infantry and cavalry. Most good hammers have upwards of

35,000 troops. Although not typical, hammers can also include rams and

catapults, in case you need to knock a few walls and buildings down. However,

most experienced players have rams and catapults (catas) in separate waves.

It is also possible to have all infantry and all cavalry hammers. This, however, is

up to the players personal wants/needs and resources and such.

It is this players experience that would like to point out that splitting up

an anvil or hammer to defend or attack multiple targets means that your

attack/defense strength is cut into fractions for each target, thus making

each piece of the overall weaker.

What is mutual for both hammers and anvils are the maintenance costs; this

means that troops require food, and lots of it. Do not fool yourself into thinking

you have a hammer if youve trained offensive troops separately in differentvillages: the hammer is trained in ONE village. An anvil can function slightly

differently, because you can pool your defenses into one village when needed,

which brings us back to the topic of feeding the troops. There are a few ways to

maintain your hammer or anvil. Some players will prefer to get a big cropper (9c

or 15c) and keep the troops there, making the cropper their capital and thus

raising the crop fields above level 10. But almost always (especially once the

size of the hammer/anvil breaches a certain level at later stages of the game),more crop will be needed and so supply lines will regularly travel from other

villages to keep the troops fed. Another way of keeping this massive amount of

troops alive is to just choose a village to train and keep them in, and build a host

of granaries to store food which is sent from other villages; such players still

employ croppers for food production and the granary spaces are increased by

demolishing old and obsolete buildings. Finally, you can also fraction the

hammer or anvil and cut food costs while employing either one of the above

mentioned methods; what this means is that you can send a certain number of

troops to nearby villages which have a surplus of crop and thus reduce the crop

maintenance in your hammer/anvil village. This, however, can be potentially

dangerous in that your enemies may attack these villages and destroy fractions

of your troops, thus weakening your hammer or anvil without having to blast

their way through a massive number of troops they would normally have to go

through.

VII. What troops should I have as a beginner?

As a new player to Travian, its usually advised to have more defensive troops.

For Teutons, you need more Clubbies in the beginning. For Romans,

Legionnaires and Praetorians are usually best. They provide a solid offensive

and defensive force. And finally for Gauls, your best bet are Phalaxes. Also for

Gauls, you should consider making a trapper. One of the Gaul tribes best

defensive weapons is the trapper, especially at start game. While its not really

a troop, we thought it should be mentioned. The trapper for Gauls provides a

certain amount of traps per level. These traps are hidden, and cannot be seenby scout reports.

When you send a raid against a Gaul village, be weary of the traps!

One piece of advice for new players: The stronger troop types require more

resources. So, the higher your productions, the less time you have to wait to

train troops and upgrade buildings.

VIII. How do I train troops?Infantry troops must be trained from the barracks, and cavalry from the stables.

To get to your barracks, go to the village overview, and locate your barracks:

Click it, bringing you to this screen: You should see listed all of the infantry troops you can train here. You will seethe troop name, how many you have present, the resources required to train a

single troop of that unit, the amount of time needed to train one unit, the options

to NPC if you have gold, and the amount of troops to be trained/how many you

can train. If you look at my legionnaires, I have 700 present, and can train a

max of 32 currently. If you click this number, it will set the number to be trained

as the max.

You should see the same options, just different troops.For later on down the road, the rams and catapults (destructive units) you need

to build the siege workshop. Senators, chiefs, chieftains (administrators), are

trained from the palace or residency. More information will be included on

administrators in next months addition!

All troops (expect the basic units ie. clubbies, legionnaires, and

phalanxes) must be researched in the Academy before they can betrained. THIS INCLUDES ADMINISTRATORS!!!

mathematical operations (subtracting, adding, dividing, multiplying and

brackets) in order to get the target number or a number not too bigger or
